Job Description

Arcadis seeks a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our team in Fort Wayne, IN. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. With the support of a strong nationally recognized staff, the candidate will be able to grow their expertise and technical knowledge of water and wastewater conveyance and treatment design & construction engineering. The Project Engineer would be a critical member of Water Division’s staff and be expected to support the proven reputation of excellence in executing projects within the municipal Water/Wastewater market of this region. Project management skills are desired or at least with a willingness to grow into project management and also client management/development to ultimately become a seller-doer.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead tasks and ultimately projects, staff and clients in the planning, design and construction of Water/Wastewater/Stormwater pipelines, pump/lift stations and treatment plants.
  • Develop planning reports and construction documents, including design plans and specifications, and manage construction oversight/administration.
  • Experience managing or with a desire to grow into a project manager for a range of projects for various clients. Responsibilities will include managing tasks, budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment, and leading project team to meet the project deliverables.
  • Work directly with clients to determine needs and provide solutions.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplined engineering teams.
  • Support the development of small to large projects from inception to completion.
  • Develop project design and construction cost estimates.
  • Complete design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations & analysis.
  • Support the work of others and mentor junior level engineer & design technical staff.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.

  • Strong team leadership and/or project management experience or proven potential, including managing project delivery expectations, prioritization of tasks, and mentoring.
  • Experience with or desire for business development and client facing role, including preparation and development of proposals, managing client expectations and overall relationship building.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 - 10 years of experience in water / wastewater / stormwater studies, design, and/or construction administration and oversight, on a variety projects, from small to larger in size.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in developing reports, project drawings, specifications, schedules and cost estimates.
  • Experience with MS Office applications.
  • Current PE License in Indiana.

Required Driving Statement

This position requires a current valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or MBA.
