As a technical leader working on the Social VR team at Facebook, you will architect and build the social virtual reality experiences that will define the future of online social interaction. You will drive forward the underlying networking and replication systems that make these new VR interactions possible over great distances. The ideal candidate is a software engineer with experience in the games or simulation industry, with a deep technical understanding of high performance networked simulations, and a passion for virtual reality.

Required Skills:

  1. Driving design, implementation, and improvements to high performance networked simulation architecture driving real-time interactions in VR

  2. Identify technical requirements and assist in project planning of the execution of a variety of Social VR projects across multiple VR platforms, including but not limited to network quality impact and implementation

  3. Individual contribution to the development of Social VR projects

  4. Engage with FB teams to understand and utilize infrastructure, tools, and services for networked Social VR projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer shipping games or other 3D interactive products

  2. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field

  3. Shipped multiple products developing real-time networked simulation features

  4. Experience interfacing with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa

  5. C++ and C# programming experience

  6. Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Virtual reality experience (Rift, Vive, GearVR, etc.)

  2. Windows, Android, and game console programming experience

  3. Unity 3D experience

  4. Cloud services and infrastructure familiarity
