The VP of Sales will have direct oversight for the UHC Key Accounts sales team, responsible for broker/consultant and direct sales to customers in the 100 - 3000+ employee range.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management:
    - Manage and monitor producer and client assignments.
    - Recruit, train and manage sales staff.
    - Management of overall budget and creation and implementation of strategy to achieve goals.
  • Relationship Building:
    - Build and maintain key client and producer relationships as well as key internal relationships.
  • Product Knowledge:
    - Detailed understanding of health insurance products, services and solutions.
    - Working knowledge of ancillary product lines.
  • Healthcare Knowledge:
    - Understands goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of UHC.
    - In-depth healthcare knowledge, understanding important trends.
    - Demonstrates knowledge of competitor’s strengths, weaknesses and strategies.
    - Understands medical management operations and strategies.
  • Financial and Underwriting:
    - Understands financing methodologies and strategies (fully insured, ASO).
    - Thorough knowledge of underwriting principles and common practices.
  • Internal Operations and Capabilities:
    - Understands information systems capabilities and strategies.
    - Ability to navigate internal departments to produce positive service results for clients and the company.
  • Sales Skills:
    - Strong consultative sales skills with experience and ability to influence and negotiate complex situations with sophisticated customers and brokers/consultants.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success dealing with brokers/consultants and current, solid relationships within themarketplace

  • Track record of success meeting and exceeding sales goals/targets, and managing a complex book ofbusiness within the medical benefits/insurance industry

  • Sales Insurance License Maintained by Law

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in Related Field

  • Maintains Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of successful sales management experience within Major or Key Accounts preferred
