The company is in high-growth mode which requires hiring experienced product managers who have delivered products at scale and have then managed them through their lifecycle.
Foster a strong product culture. A culture where the team understands the importance of continuous and rapid testing and learning. They understand that they need to make mistakes to learn, but they need fail fast and mitigate the risks. They intuitively understand the need for continuous innovation. They know that great products are the result of true collaboration. They respect and value their designers and engineers. They understand the power of a motivated product delivery team.
Represent product management at the senior leadership level. Must work well and collaborate with peers to solve problems. Product is the central spoke in communicating with, integrating feedback from, and pushing back on sales, customer success, engineering, operations, and other functions. This means product managers need to build deep relationships in each organization and be able to work with many different functions and personality types effectively.
Empower Product Managers (PMs) to be effective and get things done. Support PMs to navigate and effectively communicate with key stakeholders. The VP of Product should also clearly define, and achieve cross-company buy-in on, the roles and responsibilities of PMs and the adoption of simple product processes.
Set & adhere to cross-company product management processes. Develop or improve processes needed to run product development efficiently, prioritize product decisions, launch products successfully and drive business outcomes. This includes experience with product discovery, multi-functional release schedules, writing product requirement documents (PRDs), and navigating cross-functional input and trade-offs for products. Ensure adoption of these processes by the broader company.
