Vice President of Human Resources                                

Position Overview

The VP of Human Resources is a strategic business partner, visionary and change agent responsible for alignment of all Human Resources within the Company to support strategic business goals to establish We Are Alexander as a global company.

This position is responsible for establishing a climate that creates the optimal environment for recruiting, retaining and motivating the workforce.

 The VP of HR is responsible for planning and carrying out the policies relative to all phases of Human Resources for all locations and over 400 employees.  

This position interacts with all levels of supervision and appropriate administrative staff with respect to the following job functions.

 Essential Job Functions

    Career Development

  • Supervise ongoing performance management initiatives to maximize each individual performance capability

  • Initiate and administer appropriate employee motivation and rewards

  • Initiate and administer appropriate employee improvement initiatives

  • Establish ongoing education and training to build the capacity of the current workforce

  • Provide training and development required through internal and external sources utilizing best practices on the entire scope of training needs for the organization

Policies, Procedures and Practices

  • Effectively administer all policies, procedures and practices of the Company.  Conducts research, evaluates trends and best practices and recommends alternatives for revising existing and/or implementing new policies, procedures, and practices to help the Company meet changing dimensions

  • With legal assistance, prepare and maintain employee handbook

  • With legal assistance, recommend and design Company-wide documents, (i.e. arbitration, confidentiality, and other standard employee agreements and implement standard agreements at appropriate times (initial employment, promotions, wage/salary increases, etc)

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Supervise benefits programs to ensure that all employees are aware of and appreciate their benefits

  • Execute continuous cost improvement initiatives

  • Direct compensation and benefits functions to meet overall Company goals of attracting and retaining productive employees while maintaining cost effectiveness

  • Conduct research, assimilate data, and create a wage/salary scale that is in alignment with current market trends while being a steward of the Company’s resources

 

Labor Relations/Employee Relations

  • Supervise labor relations issues including administration of Union grievance procedure and resolution of grievances, substantially reducing production management’s involvement with those issues

  • Establish employee relations programs that foster good will, retention of good employees, camaraderie, loyalty and a feeling of pride in and support of the common goals of the Company

 

Regulatory and Compliance

  • Administer and document compliance of all regulatory functions for all Human Resource programs (i.e. OSHA, EEOC, etc)

  • Remain current on recent federal, state and case law changes and monitor labor updates and newsletters for changes that affect human resources

  • Partner with international labor and employment council to optimize employment in countries outside US as the business needs require

 Education/Experience/Training

  • Masters Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or Business Administration, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of ten (10) years Human Resource Management experience

  • International experiencepreferred

  • SPHRpreferred

  • Previous Agency experiencepreferred.
