Vice President DiscoveryOur client is a publicly-traded medical device/drug firm with several products under development, one in late-stage Phase IIIB clinical trials. This role is part of the firm?s R&D function and would report directly to the CEO. The position, in addition to offering a strong base and bonus, would have 10,000 stock grants. The firm is based in Atlanta and the company would assist in relocating candidates to the area. This is not a virtual/commutable position.Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Provide technical leadership for new drug identification and non-clinical development for pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safety in early development
  • Provide scientific rationale to support best strategic positioning of the company's pipeline
  • Participate in strategic discussions with company leadership and with external advisory board members. Contribute to otherstrategic initiatives to impact on innovation and growth
  • Develop R&D budget and timelines
  • Manage collaborative R&D activities with industrial and academic partners
  • Collaborate and coordinate with CMC group to development medicinal chemistry / molecular biology and with Clinical and Regulatory to move concepts rapidly to the clinic.
  • Generate, manage, evaluate, and maintain critical data in a highly organized manner. Provide reports and update to senior management
  • Write scientific proposals, prepare scientific journal articles, abstracts, and posters
  • And manage preclinical functions within the company

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. with minimum 10 years experience in biopharm or biotech industry
  • Possess strong clinical pharmacology, biomolecular background and industrialexperiences on developing drugs, ideally with an ophthalmic focus

Education: Ph.D.Experience: 10 years experience in biopharma or biotech industrySkills and Abilities:

  • In-depth experiences in pre-clinical development requirements including toxicology and other development requirements/activities
  • Established knowledge on drug and biotherapeutics development life cycle, and FDA and others agencies regulatory requirement associated with drug/biological approval for human use
  • Has successfully developed and grown R&D professionals and leadership
