Role Purpose:

The Vice President, Internal Audit has responsibility for:

·           Assisting the Head of Internal Audit with the management and delivery of the annual global internal audit plan

·        Supports the Head of Internal Audit with the management of the internal audit department and outsourced service providers

·        Provision of consultancy and advisory services to departments across the Group

·        Assist with management of the annual global internal auditSOX Assurance programme

Key Accountabilities:

·        Supporting the Head of IA with the development, management and delivery of the annual global internal audit plan, its alignment with SOX Assurance and ensuring timely completion of the plan in line with applicable deadlines. 

·        Management of delivery of internal audits where lead, to ensure:

o  Adequate coverage and focus on key relevant risks in line with risk based audit approach;

o  Timely completion of audit delivery and formal reporting to senior management and Board;

o  Completion of audit activities to a high standard in line with Internal Audit Approach, Policies and Procedures and professional standards;

o  Adequacy of management action plans to address issues identified and add value to the business.

 

·     Effective relationship management within the IA team, internal management, external audit, regulators and otherinternal or external stakeholders.

·     Management of staff (direct reports) including recruitment and selection (where applicable), performance evaluations, coaching, staff development and performance issues. 

·     Support the Head of IA with the management of outsourced service providers used in the execution of the internal audit plan.

·     Providing consultancy and advisory services to departments across the groups on policies and procedures, technical memorandums, internal controls, implementation of controls at newly acquired entities or new processes, risk management and other areas as requested by management.

·        Assistance with the development and management of the annual global SOX Assurance plan to ensure timely completion of the plan in line with applicable deadlines. 

·        Recommending steps needed to address any control deficiencies identified. Where appropriate, recommending control rationalization that increases the efficiency of testing programs while maintaining integrity and effectiveness of the control environment. 

·        Assistance with the development and management of the annual global SOX Assurance plan to ensure timely completion of the plan in line with applicable deadlines. 

·        Recommending steps needed to address any control deficiencies identified. Where appropriate, recommending control rationalization that increases the efficiency of testing programs while maintaining integrity and effectiveness of the control environment. 

Experience:

·        Qualifications: ACA or equivalent

·        Track record of delivering results in an external audit, internal audit or internal control assurance capacity including:

o  external or internal auditexperience in the (re)insurance sector;

o  PCAOB and SEC experience;

o  knowledge and experience in developing; executing and managing audit reviews;

o  staff management;

o  process documentation and report writing;

·        Management (internal or external) of the Audit/Assurance strategy for a global (re)insurance company;

·        Managing contracts with service providers and other third parties;

·        Developing and implementing new ways of working and delivering results;

·        Leadership, resource and project management of a team delivering assurance services.

Knowledge:

·        Well developed, up to date knowledge and understanding of the insurance and reinsurance market, applicable legislation and regulations;

·        Understanding of IIA Standards of Professional Practice

·        Detailed working knowledge of PCAOB Auditing Standards;

·        Detailed working knowledge of applicable US GAAP for the insurance and reinsurance sector

·        Knowledge of with compliance with sections 302 and 404 of Sarbanes Oxley Act 2002.
