The VP Human Resources is a hands-on HR lead who is passionate about building a High-Performance Organization by creating an engaged culture that is focused on elevating and developing existing talent, optimizing operational capabilities, and attracting new talent to support brand growth. This role will also lead the establishment of, and compliance with, human resources processes for the organization and will be engaged in broad human resources strategy development. This leader is an HR generalist with a background in legal compliance and benefits with business acumen grounded in data and technology to improve the core functions.
The role will be a strategic business partner to the leadership team. They will lead an HR team including benefits, payroll, compliance, employee relations and talent acquisition. This person must have an authentic and genuine leadership style with a hands-on, action-oriented approach and be equally credible with associates and leaders, as they will be charged with charting the course of effective engagement and people strategies to support the organizational and investor strategy. As a key member of the team, they will support corporate strategy, initiative, and policies to guide and shape the future of Hanna.
Essential Functions:
- Lead the overall HR function including but not limited to the day-to-day HR activities, including consulting, and advising on policy and procedure, staffing, compensation, employee relations, and development, as well as organizational and change management.
- Serve as a strategic business partner in driving the business as it relates to our people, brand culture and organizational effectiveness.
- Drive the quarterly performance management process to create a culture of associate development to meet strategic objectives.
- Support managers and the HR team to coach associates and managers on career development, goal setting, performance improvement, and people management.
- Be a thought partner and advisor to the executive team as it relates to talent assessment, development, and organizational design.
- Continual assessment of benefit plans, including associate feedback and participation, to deliver a comprehensive program for the team.
- Build, develop, and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with management and employees across multiple business units to deliver value-added HR services.
- Create a talent assessment and planning process to support investment in top talent, retain associates and improve readiness for internal succession plans.
- Manage, communicate, and ensure compliance of workplace protocols to ensure the health and safety of the team.
- Support the Distribution Center HR manager to ensure compliance and consistency with all HR practices.
- Proactively assess business needs for HR services and develop strategies to meet those needs, including automation to improve efficiency, employee training, development, and tools to develop a High Performing Organization.
- Address all employee relation issues and other immediate issues to minimize risk and build a healthy and productive culture.
- Sponsor and lead company initiative to support the overall brand strategy.
- Maintain Legal Compliance in all matters of employment.
- Partner with leadership team on talent assessment, organizational design, and learning and development initiatives.
- Drive a strategy to promote a positive employment branding and engagement.
- Ensure the company maintains a diverse talent base and meets the defined DEI goals.
- Promote our core values and leadership principles.
- Be data driven in all objectives of the function.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of relevant experience
- Senior Director or VP level HR experience
- SPHR or SHRM-SCP
- 10-15 years of prior HR Generalist and/or Organizational Development experience
- Experience practicing HR in a multi-state/multi-location environment.
- Thorough understanding of HR Functional disciplines, e.g., talent development, HR consulting, talent acquisition, employee relations, legal compliance, and people engagement.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal laws.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with and influence leaders.
- Successful ability to use people analytics and data to influence business decisions.
- Strong ability to assess situations and create innovative solutions.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Experience creating and implementing strategy to build brand culture.
- Experience supporting an organization to embracing change and innovation in an ever-evolving business.
- Previous talent management, succession planning and learning and development experience.
- Strong experience and demonstrated skills in handling a variety of employee relations matters.
- Strong knowledge in employment laws; multi-state experience required.
- Experience with a retail and/or apparel company preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
