Responsibilities

The VP of Global Legal Technology Initiatives will be accountable for transformational program delivery and ultimately ongoing legal IT portfolio operations in support of enhanced NBCU legal operations. This portfolio services the functions of NBCU Legal Operations, Legal IP, along with NBCU brands responsible for content delivery (Film, TV, DTC, etc.). The candidate will be expected to understand best practices in rights management & the associated tools to deliver technology to underpin business transformation. This role is accountable to collaborate with the rest of the NBCU technology solution areas to ensure integration and appropriate leverage of enterprise solutions, as well as adherence to enterprise strategy, standards, and policies.


The candidate will be the primary technology business partner to the executive functional sponsors of rights management and legal operations and will own the delivery of a contract lifecycle management solution, coupled with an IP rights management engine, associated business intelligence, and ultimately have overall legal operations technology accountability. Responsibility across phases range from discovery, scoping/program structuring, business cases & planning, vendor selection, program execution, support/operations, etc.


This is considered a critical role in Enterprise Applications and requires working flexible hours to support business partners globally.

List of Job Duties:

  • Facilitate & lead (if necessary) design of transformational rights solutions
  • Review design recommendations to ensure quality and consistency
  • Facilitate & lead business requirement definition sessions
  • Facilitate & lead (if necessary) fit-gap analysis via discovery and by engaging with business units and other corporate systems team members
  • Ensure portfolio is compliant and secure; meeting internal and/or regulatory requirements
  • Be primary technical leader for the rights management and other strategic legal IT initiatives
  • Collaborate with peers in the Enterprise Applications to apply best practices in integration
  • Represent expert voice of the Enterprise Applications with other IT groups in envisioning sessions
  • Be the trusted internal advisor for key business users
  • Assist & provide guidance in troubleshooting production support issues
  • Enhance expertise in the area of Legal products, by keeping abreast of literature, participating in web/seminars, industry events as necessary
  • Resource planning, develop team skill matrix and team work load management
  • Manage a team of direct reports to execute transformational initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements


  • Minimum 10 years of experience in contract management, rights management, and legal technology operations within a media business or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing a team
  • Onsite work location – Englewood Cliffs, NJ or Universal City, CA
  • Willingness to work off business hours and weekends as needed in a demanding environment
