Role Summary/Purpose:

The VP, Data Operations Leader will lead a team of focused system engineers and operations specialists to manage the Service Management processes for our data warehouse / business intelligence development platforms. The ideal candidate will be a leader, integrator and optimizer in partnering with business stakeholders, management, IT teams, and customers to optimize and guide the delivery of high-performance data management process excellence.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead a global team of 80+ on and offshore run support specialists to deliver high quality data warehouse process execution
  • Leverage existing Service Management processes including Change, Config, Service Level, Performance, Incident and Problem management to deliver a high level of support and system availability
  • Partner with Build and Release Management teams to implement new development efforts into production
  • Partner with Data Lake and existing Data Warehouse development teams to develop a simplification strategy and roadmap to improve overall enterprise data delivery
  • Interface with the Business and IT leadership to gather Voice of the Customer information and use metrics to analyze current process capability and to drive continuous improvement
  • Review system performance issues and work with engineering to develop and implement a roadmap for improvement
  • Develop strategies for run book automation and self-healing to drive efficiencies and an improved end user experience
  • Leverage industry standards and best practices for improving service levels and performance
  • Partner with the Compute, DBA and Storage team and external service and technology providers to resolve issues and assist in on time delivery
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and technical leadership to a team of highly motivated individuals to achieve overall success
  • Provide vendor management of a large onshore/offshore support team including SLA management
  • Work with Operational Risk, Auditor and Regulators to ensure that policies, standards and procedures are followed


  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of IT experience OR in lieu of a Degree, High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 9 years of experience in an IT environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of overall IT experience, with recent hands-on technical experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a large complex organization
  • Minimum of 7 years software development experience managing a globally distributed team of 50+ on and off shore resources
  • Minimum of 5 years of Financial Services experience; credit card industry experience a plus

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with data management best practices such as data governance, master data management, metadata management, data architecture, and data quality management.
  • Must be able to work effectively across a diverse technology organization, using excellent communication skills to keep partners and clients informed on technology issues
  • Architecture and support experience with large multi-terabyte (>100TB) data warehouse platforms
  • Current subject matter knowledge in database, data warehouse and business intelligence technologies and platforms
  • Agile Development methodologies
  • Oracle Exadata / RDBMS platform experience
  • Must be comfortable and adept at presenting to executives and external clients
