SCOPE OF POSITION
The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) provides the necessary leadership to ensure that Ballad Health's information technology applications, infrastructure and strategy all work together to support improved community health. In addition to ensuring that all clinical applications and technology promote quality, safety, clinical productivity, and patient and clinician satisfaction, the CMIO promotes clinical engagement and leadership to ensure information technology plays a strong role in supporting and enabling transformational system change.
Working with physicians and other clinical, administrative, and information technology team members, the CMIO provides direction for the design and implementation of Ballad Health's clinical systems and ensures the continuing education, involvement, and support of physicians and other users. The individual also participates in the development of the IT strategic and management action plans.
The CMIO is the principal leader and advocate for Ballad Health's clinical information system programs and initiatives within the physician community. The individual works with medical staff and other leadership to realize the full value of Ballad Health's technology investments and serves as the designated IT representative to regional and institutional clinical boards and committees.
This includes working with senior clinical leadership to develop and deploy evidence-based practice and clinical content. The individual is also responsible for educating, convening, and supporting clinical work groups, providing them with relevant information regarding products, applications, and implementation considerations, and working with technical personnel to implement the strategies developed by clinical work groups.
The CMIO will serve as a member of Ballad Health's innovation leadership team. Working with relevant partners such as virtual health and service line leadership, the CMIO will have a lead role within Ballad Health to promote the adoption and integration of remote monitoring, patient wearables, mobile clinical applications, and other technologies that improve patient and population health, access to services, communications, and clinical productivity and satisfaction. The individual will also provide direction to Ballad Health's clinical and business analytics team to leverage medical and related data to achieve the aforementioned outcomes.
The CMIO maintains awareness of the existing and emerging regulatory and market factors relevant to HIPAA, meaningful use, IRB, health information exchange and the like in order to maintain corporate compliance and minimize risk. The individual advocates for the security of protected health information while promoting the necessary exchange of such information for approved purposes, including clinical care and research.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
MD or DO in any medical specialty. Additional degrees in computer science or medical informatics strongly preferred.
Active license with relevant board certification.
A minimum of 10 years active medical practice required with a minimum 3 years experience in medical information technology management or leadership.
