Summary

The Senior Director/Vice President, Business Development will report to the EVP, Business Development. The objectives of the Business Development function at InterDigital are to drive cross functional efforts to establish and deepen customer relationships, and accelerate the timeframe and outcomes of highvalue/high quality licensing deals for the company. This includes extensive participation in the process of assembling, coalescing, and focusing deep knowledge of our customers, the assembly, monitoring, and reporting of all Customer touchpoints within the organization, working with the BD team in the creation ofcustomer-specific plans, and working in conjunction with and in support of the Licensing team on the execution of those plans. This role is intended to provide global scope at the outset (i.e. in startup mode), but may adapt as customer requirements and/or team size changes over time.

The ideal candidate will possess deep analytical skills, strong written and verbal communications, and the ability to work with a team spanning all functional areas of InterDigital, as well as a variety of external stakeholders, including, of primary importance, our current and potential customers.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop specific customer frameworks and plans
  • Conduct and support cross-functional “information gathering”, as well as appropriate utilization of external information sources
  • In conjunction with BD/Licensing teams, determine the basis for compelling offers that drive long term deals and value with current and potential InterDigital customers
  • Leverage strong interpersonal relationship capability that allows individual to work across geographic and cultural boundaries
  • Synthesize and analyze data and capture/reduce what may seem like unstructured data into actionable information
  • Identify, craft and/or adapt InterDigital’s BD process/story to other stakeholders that impact our deals and raise value of our deals (i.e. Government Relations, Financial Stakeholders, Tech influencers etc.)
  • Thrive in a high-travel environment with extensive opportunity to engage with customers on the ground locally, primarily in China/Asia
  • Lead through influence as an individual contributor on the BD team (role could evolve but not for min 6-12 months)—this is essential to ability to work cross-functionally with a variety of internal and external groups/stakeholders, and manage indirect internal and external resources, as required.
