The Role: Morningstar Research Inc. is the leading financial information and services provider in Canada. We are looking for a senior business development to join our team as a VP, Business Development for the CPMS line of products. This position will provide world-class service to subscribers and prospective customers of CPMS including asset managers, pension funds, investment consultants, brokerage firms and investment advisors. This position is based in Toronto.
Responsibilities:
• Learn how to effectively use and demonstrate the CPMS Software
• Leverage their in-depth knowledge of quantitative analysis techniques and tools used in the equity market to facilitate sales growth initiatives
• Develop and maintain an assigned territory; including growth strategies that will ensure achievement of sales and revenue goals
• Participate in developing regular market review and analysis reports for clients
• Develop key relationships with clients and prospects through proactively uncovering their business needs and challenges and presenting recommendations on how our solution offerings fit into their overall goal and strategies
• Develop sales campaigns within the assigned territory that will ensure a healthy sales pipeline of potential clientele
• Manage existing client relationships with the objective of exceeding client retention goals
• Increase the penetration of existing solutions within accounts, and build long terms partnerships within these accounts
• Meet and exceed revenue goals by selling CPMS Institutional offerings
• Demonstrate attitude of teamwork and relationship building within, and outside the company
• Maintain and prepare sales documentation and presentations
Requirements:
• A passionate interest in the financial services industry
• A proven track record of sales success with a minimum of 5 years experience in an outside sales role
• Experience in sales of Institutional Software, Institutional Investment Consulting, and/or Asset Manager Services
• Experience in investment research, analytics and/or portfolio management would be an asset for this role
• A min of 5 years of customer-facing experience at senior levels within the financial marketplace, including selling data, software, and/or other licensed solutions
• A proven track record of acquiring new business, and successful account management
• University degree in related field, ideally a CFA or other related industry designations.

• Outstanding negotiating, communication, organization and presentation skills
• Ability to plan account specific strategies and execute on them
• Ability to work closely with Product Management and Marketing teams.
