Responsibilities
Oaktree’s Information Technology team is seeking an individual who will provide Business and Data Analysis capabilities focused on risk and security analytics, migration from on-premises to cloud computing, as well as operational process design and oversight. This individual will partner with various departments within the company and serve as a thought and change leader as we build our Enterprise Analytics and Investment Technology platforms. In partnership with the Portfolio Construction and Risk Management team, this individual will design specifications for new risk and security analytics, perform quality tests, oversee the development to production implementation lifecycle.
Responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot and resolve production related issues arising from missed or problematic data feeds, inaccuracies related to calculations, and report output discrepancies. Ultimately achieving the goal of a robust production system.
- Take ownership of all aspects of software development including specifications, testing, debugging, roll-out (including user training), documentation, and maintenance.
- Design and implement operational processes to monitor the accuracy and timeliness of data flows, analytics calculators and report outputs.
- Collaborate with the investment teams, Portfolio Reporting and Performance and other internal partners to draw up formal specifications for risk and security analytics.
- Continue to push the transition of our analytics calculation engine to the cloud.
- Work with IT senior leaders, Portfolio Reporting and Performance, Investment Teams, Fund accounting and others to support ongoing development of Oaktree’s Enterprise Analytics suite.
- Enhance and evolve Oaktree’s broader data and reporting environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- Working knowledge of security analytics for bonds, leveraged loans (Bank Debt), convertible securities, options and/or structured products.
- Experience with AWS services and Cloud based Data Science tools like Jupyter.
- Knowledge of designing and scaling Cloud based systems.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python scripting.
- Experience using C# and MS Visual Studio.
- Experience with Agile software development process and CI/CD code deployment methodologies is needed.
- Ability to quarterback assigned projects to resolution, seeking guidance and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Comfortable and capable of working with product specialists, vendors, portfolio managers, and senior management to understand and define requirements.
- Experience building reports in business intelligence tools such as Microsoft BI or Tableau.
- Ability to work with a broad range of senior stakeholders, including investment analysts, portfolio managers and senior leadership across the firm.
- Experience in business process design and creating optimized business workflow.
Strongly Preferred:
- Foundation in investment finance concepts and familiarity with credit instruments.
- Expertise in investment platforms, systems, operations, data flows, and processes, as it relates to credit/alternative asset management and the investment lifecycle in general, is a major plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience at an asset management company, investment/portfolio analytics software vendor, investment/portfolio analytics consultancy, or other related financial services company working with credit products in an analytical capacity.
- Foundation in investment finance concepts and familiarity with credit instruments.
- Possess the high level of poise, concision and effective communication required to work with senior management, investment professionals and clients experience.
- Experience in Machine Learning/AI/Deep Learning algorithms and investment financial models a plus.

Education
- A bachelor’s degree is required with a major in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Math, or another related field.
- CFA/FRM candidates will be viewed favorably, as will anyone who demonstrates strong interest in Finance.
