Vice President, Procurement
Multi $B Global Food Company – Based in Southern California
As Vice President – Procurement, you will have oversight responsibility for all direct material procurement activities.
You will lead and direct the procurement organization, ensuring quality materials and services are obtained and delivered at the lowest total cost of ownership, utilizing the optimum blend of people, efficient systems and sound business processes.
In addition, this position has direct responsibility for the sourcing, negotiating, supplier selection and contracting for the Packaging materials portfolio, which includes collaborative buying in strategic relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cost-Reduction Czar: Identify savings opportunities and mobilize cost-reduction resources/processes
Key Contract Negotiator: Ensure continual review of contracting terms across the supplier base
Strategic Sourcing Process Leader: Develop, embed, and monitor strategic sourcing processes at corporate and BU levels
Organizational Direction Setter: Identify appropriate strategic direction for Procurement organization
General Manager of the Procurement Function: Lead and oversee all sourcing/supplier management processes.
Key Internal Relationship Facilitator: Establish and manage relationships with senior leaders and functional stakeholders
Compliance/Regulatory Officer: Oversee adherence to purchasing regulations. Ensure controls and compliance as appropriate and required by law and company policy.
Superior Engagement Moderator: Regulate relationship management of key suppliers
Coach: Build, develop, coach, and support an effective procurement team to drive achievement of organizational objectives, by identifying opportunities for growth and learning while fostering a high performance culture.
Risk Manager: Mitigate the impact of commodity price volatility on the cash flows and earnings, by developing, communicating, gaining approval and executing Commodity Risk Management Strategies. To the extent possible and within prudent limits, also seek to add value through the reduction of cost of procurement of commodities.
Budget Executive: Develop, review, manage and deliver operating budgets to meet or exceed budget targets.
Four yeardegree, MBA preferred.
10+ Years of Procurement / Purchasing Leadership and Management experience preferably form a major food or CPG company
Proven track record of effectively leading sourcing and procurement activities in support of production of consumer products in a matrixed environment.
Experienced procurement professional with strong knowledge and expertise in packaging sourcing, with expert knowledge of all types of packaging materials (rigid and flexible).
Large scale ingredient sourcing experience and knowledge, ideally in animal proteins, dairy products, processed grains, fruit, vegetables, and food additives.
Strategic ability to develop high impact sourcing strategies. Exhibits thought leadership.
Experience in strongly supporting R&D, and new product introductions.
Experience in risk management utilizing exchange traded futures, options and swaps through the various Boards of Trade as well as through commodity suppliers.
Previous experience with enterprise management systems, including setting up and maintaining replenishment systems.
First-hand experience in utilizing on-line sourcing process, including RFQ/RFI creation, interactive negotiation, bid evaluation, contract awarding, and order execution.
