Position Title: Vice President, Manufacturing

Pay Classification: Exempt

Department: Manufacturing   

Location: Idaho

Title of Supervisor: CEO and President

Purpose and Scope:

The Vice President, Manufacturing will lead and oversee the daily operations of five food product manufacturing facilities in multiple states. 

The role is responsible for overall strategy, direction, planning and profit of the company’s manufacturing operations.

  • Develop, mentor and coach staff such that each person is empowered to contribute with enthusiasm and excellence

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships through collaboration and consistent timely communication.

     

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with the CEO and President and cross-functional business partners on manufacturing plans, goals, future product innovation, operational efficiency enhancements, engineering and capital investments.

  • Serve on the Executive Team utilizing technical know-how of manufacturing acumen and key data analytics to help set future direction.

  • Partner with the CFO and provide ongoing analysis and recommendations to address identified financial and operational challenges and opportunities leading to increased business performance metrics and net profit.

  • Lead and develop five Manufacturing leadership positions being responsible for the development, growth and retention of the team including talent pipeline and succession planning.

  • Take necessary action(s) to strengthen the team; solidify succession plans, mentor subordinates and other employees, and improve overall management capabilities.

  • Ensure manufacturing capacity and capabilities meet or exceed all customer requirements and industry regulations.

  • Work closelywith cross-functional teams on manufacturing plans, goals and future innovations.

  • Lead and oversee facility and capital planning, logistics, automation, engineering and maintenance.

  • Ensure quality control standards are met and/or exceeded in a regulated environment.

  • Play an active role in senior level negotiations with client companies and manufacturing partners.

  • Drive manufacturing capabilities that meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality and responsiveness.

  • Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and margins.

  • Develop and execute COGS plan to meet or exceed Company’s margin targets.

  • Interface with senior level managers, peers, and direct reports to maintain mutual understanding of product needs, regulatory and production requirements.

  • Motivate production managers inspiring high performance and production while ensuring quality.

  • Drive a three-year strategic operations plan making strategic adjustments when necessary.

  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to assist in planning further productivity improvements, financing and management planning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications to Perform Work:

Education/Experience/Certifications

  • BS Degree from an accredited University

  • Ten+ years of increasingly responsible leadership and management experience in manufacturing and/or operations in a similar environment preferably a Food/FDA/USDA regulated company

  • Multi-plant, multi-state experience highly preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven and strong background in strategic planning, critical thinking, capital and facility planning and engineering

  • Proven success in improvement of cost management/quality/processes/profits/safety record in a food manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of logistics, purchasing and shipping as well as quality control

  • Knowledge of flexible and rigid packaging process in a formula based manufacturing environment

  • Education and strong experience in Kaizen Lean Manufacturing

  • Hands on experience leading Safety Program and initiatives

  • Hold self and other leaders accountable for prompt resolution on key business issues likely to impact customer satisfaction and overall company operations, providing coaching and guidance as needed

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Proven and strong mentoring and teambuilding skills
