This is a rapidly-growing startup company that is an off-shoot of another successful startup company that was recently sold. This company has developed a proprietary algorithm that identifies top medical facilities, doctors, medical equipment and x-ray professionals to reduce radiology misdiagnosis and improve patient outcomes. The company partners with large self insured employers to provide this benefit to their employees resulting in dramatic cost savings for the employer as their employees recover from illness faster and less expensively. This company just signed up their first client, an extremely large self-insured national employer with over 1 million employees.
Responsibilities: Oversee all legal, regulatory, and contracting matters and collaborate with executives on insurance, compliance, and corporate governance matters. You will provide expert and strategic legal advice to management, anticipate legal issues and estimate risks strategically. Manage all of the Company's legal documentation and contracts, including but not limited to, customer contracts, vendor contracts, data use agreements, non-disclosure agreements, partnership structure proposals, etc., help ensure all legal arrangements comply with appropriate regulations, including but not limited to, HIPAA, interface with external parties (outside counsel, regulators, client legal departments, etc.), deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas and stay abreast of any legislative and regulatory changes. Qualifications: J.D. degree. 4-7 years of legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house at a healthcare company (ideally in a high-growth, fast-paced startup environment). Knowledge of and/or experience dealing with healthcare data rights issues. High degree of professional ethics and integrity. Proven track record of general counseling in business environment. Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigation, employment law, etc.). In-depth understanding of the impact of legal issues on organizations. Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives. Excellent judgment and analytical skills. First-class interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to anticipate legal issues and/or risks and to "see around the corner".
