Aspire Health is the nation’s largest community-based palliative care provider, currently operating in 23 states and 56 cities.  Aspire specializes in providing an extra layer of support to patients facing a serious illness through an ambitious palliative care program focused on caring for patients in their homes and outpatient clinics.  Aspire’s clinicians are experts in providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness; helping patients and caregivers navigate the healthcare system; guiding patients and caregivers through difficult and complex treatment choices; and providing emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families.


The Vice President of Clinical Operations will manage and direct the company’s nursing and social workerclinical operations, including all central nursing and both central and field social worker functions.  This role not only includes day-to-day oversight of these teams but – more importantly – helping create the strategies and processes to ensure these teams are maximizing the value they deliver to our patients and families across the country.  The Vice President of Clinical Operations will be one of the key members of the company’s broader clinical leadership team (along with our Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical Officer). 


Clinical Design and Process Improvement:

  • Partner and collaborate with members of Aspire’s clinical team, to help develop and implement our overall strategy for clinical operations
  • Maximize clinical impact of all non face-to-face clinical support provided by the organization
  • Work with Clinical Regional Vice Presidents to align field and care center and ensure a smooth care experience
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and analysis of clinical process management in the Care Center and in delivery of patient care
  • Recommend clinical improvement opportunities and drive implementation including process improvement, education or other interventions to achieve our clinical outcomes
  • Work with the Care Center to develop and analyze indicators identifying trends in the delivery of care and clinical operations efficiencies
  • Support the design and implementation of telephonic assessments for SWs, care management RNs, and triage RNs
  • Support the design and implementation of processes in support of telemedicine encounters between Aspire clinicians and patients
  • Assist in the building new operational processes to support handoffs between Physicians, APPs, SWs, RNs, LPNs, and CSSs both within the Care Center and between the Field and the Care Center
  • Assist in the design and implementation of new service offerings that include increased levels of telephonic and telemedicine support while reducing home visits
  • Designs clinically effective models that achieve desired clinical and financial outcomes
  • Defines associated outcome measures and metrics to track performance of model(s) and interdisciplinary team members

People Leadership:

  • Steward and oversee a strong culture based on our core values
  • Address service recovery issues as needed
  • Cultivate and seek the talent we need for clinical team member positions
  • Provide guidance and direction for Care Center management and team members on matters affecting the delivery of services to patients
  • Manage all central and field based social workers
  • Manage all central RNs, including triage RNs and care management RNs
  • Manage all central LPNs
  • Manage all central Physicians and APPs (if we incorporate them into central operations)


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 10+ years of healthcareexperience, ideally including running a telephonic clinical operation
  • 3+ years of experience in leadership roles
  • Population health management experiencepreferred
  • RN or advanced nursing license
  • Master’s degree in health care or related field preferred 

Preferred Skills:

  • Leadership expertise, hands-on management, and patient service experience is critical to success, with prior experiencing managing individuals and teams to achieve ambitious goals required
