NRF is seeking a VP Membership Sales to join its Member Relations department.  The VP will be responsible for developing both short-term and long-range tactics and strategies to meet and exceed the needs of a diverse and growing membership through innovative recruitment and retention strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Designs and deploys sales strategies and recruitment and retention initiatives which optimize membership quotas/targets and budgeted revenue goals
  • Identifies and implements membership acquisition strategies for non-traditional markets
  • Leverages deep industry, public policy knowledge and network to identify potential new members, maintains strong relationships with members and maximizes achievement of business goals
  • Applies market intelligence, best practices, and industry research to develop and implement innovative recruitment and retention strategies
  • Partners with senior leadership to define performance measurements, regular adjusts strategy and objectives to align with the evolving member needs and industry
  • Conducts sales presentations, articulates the member value proposition and develops membership materials communicating the value proposition
  • Identifies opportunities for sales process improvement and realignment of recruitment and retention strategy; facilitates successful implementation of new programs
  • Institutes and formalizes membership sales process to track sales cycle of member prospects and renewals to accurately forecast membership revenue monthly
  • Communicates and reports membership statistics, trends, and satisfaction to senior staff
  • Oversees the work of direct reports, and actively invest in team’s performance, professional growth and development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Background/Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in intangible selling or fundraising, or new business development
  • Proven experience implementing and managing sales plans, forecasting, planning and budgeting
  • Conducts sales presentations, articulates the member value proposition and develops membership materials communicating the value proposition
  • Proficiency with SalesForce CRM system
  • Comprehensive demonstrable analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to plan and execute in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative thinker with the ability to solve revenue generation challenges
  • Must be energetic and creative, and have a strong inclination for individual initiative
  • Ability to gather, interpret, analyze, and reportstatistics and other data
  • Exceptional oral and written communications abilities and negotiation skills
  • Ability to translate complex information for a broad range of audiences
  • Self-directed, goal-oriented, and the ability to work creatively and productively with colleagues
  • Ability to handle pressure in a deadline driven environment 
  • Experience working with association management/membership database
  • Travelrequired
