Duties and Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Quality-
Partner with the business leaders and Operations VP’s/Directors to support and provide guidance in the areas of Quality, Food Safety and risk mitigation
Partner with the plants and Food Safety to ensure the appropriate food safety controls are effective and mitigation activities are robust
Implement quality improvement plans tailored to the needs of the individual BUs and plants
Implement KPIs to drive continuous improvement
Drive a culture of quality and engagement
Ensure quality and food safety issues are resolved in an efficient and effective manner. Empower team to drive resolution and enforce escalation when appropriate
Ensure plants are compliant to FSMA, DFA, and customer requirements
Lead quality standardization and improvement efforts and recommendations for continuous improvements to product uniformity, reliability, and quality characteristics to minimize quality defects

Customer Support-
Partner with Sales to drive customer satisfaction in:
Creating Quality to Quality partnerships with key strategic customers
Ensuring complaint resolution is handled in an efficient and expedient manner
Supporting customer growth through quality improvement and complaint reduction
Ensuring plants are well versed in the specific customer requirements 

Corporate Quality Support-
Partner with Quality Systems to gather and provide feedback on the review of food safety and quality procedures
Ensure the plants have robust work instructions
Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Quality Management System-Intelex

Partnership 
Partner with the Food Safety organization to provide oversight and direction to:
Corporate sanitation programs
Risk assessments
Pathogen and foreign material mitigation
Best in class food safety procedures, programs and food safety plans
Retort Compliance Services

Leadership
Grow and develop talent through mentoring, SMART objectives, direct and constructive feedback, stretch objectives, managerial courage and empowerment. Allow others to lead and give reports the opportunity to shine and demonstrate their strengths

Be cognizant of changing regulatory requirements regarding FDA/USDA testing, regulations, methods and rules. Implement changes as needed/required
Provide support and direction to staff regarding performance objectives as well as individual and segment key performance indicators

Requirements

BS in Food Science or a Biological Science; Master’s Degree in Food Sciencepreferred
15+ years of manufacturing quality or manufacturing experience, to include experience as a plant QA Manager and QA responsibility for multiple plants; experience with quality systems, supply quality, continuous improvement; and a strong food safety background 
10+ years in a leadership role 
Certifications and/or Licenses –
Certifications required: Preventive Control
Certifications desired: CQE, HACCP, LACF
Strong manufacturing quality knowledge
Understanding of the processing technologies employed such as spray drying, cheese manufacturing, retort, pasteurization and dry blending 
Ability to analyze problems and make risk-based decisions in an efficient and effective manner
Knowledge of GFSI standards, HACCP & ISO 17025
Knowledge of FDA (FSMA), USDA and PMO requirements
Ability to critically evaluate food safety plans to ensure the proper preventive controls are in place and that the hazard analyses are robust
Understanding of food safety principles and capable of assessing and mitigating risk by establishing robust controls around pathogens, foreign matter and allergens
Strong problem-solving skills and root cause analysis
Prefer a certified quality engineer or someone who is highly skilled in A3 (systematic problem solving) and is capable of driving this discipline across the quality organization
Skilled in big data analytics, trend analyses, and driving continuous improvement through metric management  
Ability to effectively present technical information to various audiences and tailor the presentations accordingly 
Ability to implement the strategic food safety and quality strategy by creating a quality improvement plans tailored to the individual plants in conjunction with operations to ensure alignment and consideration of competing objectives
Ability to collect data, interpret findings, draw valid conclusions, and identify discrepancies and/or invalid results
Strong customer focus. Able to partner with the business leaders, sales, customer service, and operations to ensure a customer centric approach to complaints, meeting customer expectations and establishing quality to quality connectivity with the customer base
Able to read, write, and speak English
