Opportunity for Impact
The vice president of engineering will play a key leadership role within the company and help define the future of test automation on a global scale.
Role and Responsibilities
- Construct the optimal design of the engineering organization to enable a transformative impact on the way developers and accompanying personas engage with test automation and corresponding ecosystems
- Partner with the founder to deeply internalize product strategy in order to construct the organization and execute on the larger product vision
- Collaborate deeply across product teams, and with other executives to align technical architecture and business strategy, vision, with long-term product priorities
- Own deliverables for all engineering teams and ensure we continue to ship scalable, high availability products that delight our users and customers
- Cultivate skills and manage team performance, guiding individuals and the entire engineering organization in career progression, promotions, performance improvement, and hiring best practices; enable world class employee retention
- Support and enhance a data-driven and continuous improvement culture to improve the efficiency, scalability, stability, and security of products
- Lead the designing of organizational teams and structures that rapidly experiment, continuously ship product improvements and diligently measure the results
- Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement
Qualifications
Professional Qualifications
- Exceptionally technically adept at transforming the company’ vision into product, while creating a partnership role with the founder and product management to define product strategy
- Demonstrated success as part of the leadership team in a developer centric, product led growth company; deep understanding of open source, JavaScript, DevOps and relevant ecosystems is critical
- Exceptionally results-focused; views the optimization of software engineering and product development methodologies as tools used in service of results over standard playbooks and processes
- Ability to think and operate at a “strategic level,” but execute on a “tactical level” with the willingness to roll-up sleeves
- Significant experience with an early stage, high-growth, product led growth company
- Exceptional technical capability, with deep knowledge of and experience with modern software development practices and technologies and architectural principles found in highly scalable systems
- Proven leader with the ability to recruit, design, build and lead outstanding teams, scale an organization, and properly structure teams from 25 to 100+; strong personal network comprised of people who want to rejoin this leader
- Demonstrable examples of exceptional employee retention and team management
- Ability to make technical decisions while balancing the needs of the user, customers, and the business
- Experienced working with distributed and co-located teams.
- An eloquent and savvy leader who can communicate and execute goals and objectives working with all stakeholders, including founders, customers, investors, and employees
