Position Specification

POSITION TITLE

Vice President, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer

Reporting To

Chief Financial Officer

The Company

Our client is an American multinational household name in the Beauty business.

Scope and Responsibility

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Vice President, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer will oversee corporate accounting, financial consolidation, external reporting and financial policy throughout the company to drive operational efficiency and deliver timely and accurate financial information to appropriate internal and external constituencies. This position will also be responsible for ensuring an effective system of internal controls operates globally including SOX compliance.

Responsibilities include:

Corporate Accounting

· Provide leadership to the Assistant Controller and Controller's group; foster a cohesive, well-functioning team.

· Assessment and validation of internal controls over financial reporting globally, accuracy of internal reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow). Strengthening financial discipline around the closing process.

· Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.

  • Report quarterly to the Board of Directors on various matters relating to this position's responsibilities.
  • Play a supporting role in all corporate and international M&A activity and capital market transactions.
  • Oversee the efficacy of the financial systems, owns the Record-to-Report process.

Consolidations

· Provide leadership to the Director Consolidations and oversee the monthly global financial consolidation process including the recording of consolidating entries, reconciliation of inter-company and investment in subsidiary transactions.

· Oversee global monthly, quarterly and annual close process for the Consumer Products Company and subsidiaries.

· Drive for greater clarity of financial position and focus on financial targets.

  • Oversee Corporate Headquarters General Ledger and Corporate Departmental spending.

External Reporting and Policy

  • Provide leadership to the Director, External Reporting and oversee SEC Reporting (10Q, 10K, Proxy, other) to ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC disclosures.
  • Responsible for the accuracy, integrity, completeness, communication and adherence of the Company's Corporate Financial Policies, including periodical review and update of existing policies as deemed necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all SEC, FASB and Other Technical developments (research, interpretation, guidance, and accounting support).
  • Technical Bulletins- Oversee the issuance of quarterly technical bulletins to the global finance community, summarizing the recent developments in accounting and financial pronouncements and the likely impact for the company.
  • Oversee all pension accounting / disclosures, and Pension and Savings Plan Financial Statements (preparation, coordination with external auditor).
  • Management of corporate-led financial training/research programs.
  • Coordinate with External Auditors and Internal Audit on the Corporate Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Program Management (planning, timelines, and coordination).

Coordination with External and Internal Auditors

· Coordinate with External and Internal Auditors on an ongoing basis regarding financial reporting and SOX compliance.

· Conduct proactive, in-depth discussions about data needs required by the External Auditor and manage the timely preparation / delivery of those data needs (PBC List).

· Engage External Auditors in technical accounting matters in a timely and comprehensive manner.

Liaison with Global Finance Community, Senior Management, Board of Directors

  • Work closely with all members of the organization to plan for and execute efficient and effective monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, and enable high-quality financial-based decision making.

Special Projects / Ad-hoc Support / Analysis

  • Execute high-quality and timely analysis / support as required.

Background Required

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of accounting and financeexperience, with the last five years in senior finance/controllership roles, either at the corporate level or large division level. The candidate must have experience with external reporting, either in the current job responsibilities or in a previous role. Additionally, significant work experience within large, global, manufacturing-based companies is required. A proven ability to move a team to world-class levels of performance is highly desired. Early work experience in public accounting is essential.

The candidate will be a leader who has the ability to be a big picture, strategic thinker with the willingness to oversee the day-to-day activities. They must operate with a sense of urgency and thoroughness with the ability to work across diverse lines of an international and matrix organization structure. It is essential that the successful candidate has strong communication and leadership skills, team development experience, hands-on accounting experience and a desire for problem-solving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will demand the highest standards of integrity and execution and to deliver impact and ensure growth. They must work proactively and as a true business partner to the CFO and Global Finance Organisation.

Knowledge and expertise should include:

  • Highly developed leadership and management skills.
  • Lead a diverse team of professionals that handle a large variety of functional areas.
  • Strong finance and accounting background - US GAAP / Technical Accounting / SEC and External Reporting and all applicable disclosure regulations (SEC / REG FD).
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Ability to manage resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Business acumen—ability to understand key aspects of the company's business strategy as well as the ability to recommend changes that have the potential to further strengthen the Company's results.
  • Excellent technical skills –Strong working knowledge of financial reporting systems (preferably Hyperion) and financialprocesses.
  • Excellent communication/ interpersonal skills and ability to understand the context of the audience (both internally and externally) and adapt communication style as necessary.
  • Strong analytical capabilities as demonstrated by use of probing and thoughtful questions to ensure all relevant information is known and incorporated into decision-making process.
  • Ability to influence and impact all levels of organization.
  • Must have the desire to thrive in a dynamic environment; able to move quickly with program implementation and maintain focus amid change.
  • Hands on: demonstrated ability to see the big picture / think broadly while also diving down into operational and execution details.
  • Consultative approach to planning and problem-solving.

· Experience with manufacturing companies.

  • Experience with presentation preparation for Board of Directors and senior management.
  • Experience with management reporting and financial analysis at Corporate, Group or Divisional level.

education

Strong academic background. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field. CPA required, MBA, preferred. Public Accounting is a must.

A full relocation package will be provided.

Salary

$300K - $325K
$300K - $325K base, all benefits and Long term incentive plan bonus
