Job Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the President, as the Vice President, Community Management, your mission will be to guide the overall community management division of FirstService Residential for current productivity as well as future opportunities. You will be responsible for client retention, employee retention, and the advancement of FirstService Residential and FirstService Residential's client services in terms of its image, visibility, reputation, diversification, professionalism, and technology.

You'll oversee a talented team which includes Community Managers, Coordinators and Regional Directors. There are several properties in this network, and you'll have the ability to make your mark on each one. You'll interact with Board Members ateach property, as well as, a variety of other internal and external contacts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist other management team members in the recruiting, hiring, and separation of employees.
  • Be aware of and share with key associates an awareness of external factors, internal factors, best business practices, optimum use of resources and strategic thinking; while also listening to associates to capture and incorporate their best thinking on pertinent aspects of guiding the business.
  • Manage budget and approve expenditures for area of responsibility. Provide year-end input to corporate budget and in particular, to those line items within area of responsibility.
  • As community and industry involvement are important to FirstService Residential's business philosophy, participate in at least one outside committee (i.e.: CAI, CACM, BIA, HBC, Chamber, Rotary, United Way, etc.).
  • Commit to attending all designated company meetings and events as well as supervisor meetings, area of responsibility team meetings, and others that may occur from time to time.
  • Work collectively with President and colleagues on strategies to effect and implement new company procedures, policy changes, etc.
  • Lead responsibility to coordinate best practices, innovation, creative thinking and implementation of business practices.
  • Participate in Business Development activities including attendance at local trade shows, CAI events, opportunities with vendors that allow for networking and solicitation of new business.
  • Support sales efforts to gain new business including supporting and/or delivering sales presentations to potential clients.
  • Interact with Marketing for specific regional marketing plans to enhance company brand and drive sales opportunities.
  • Drive the performance targets for sales goals for each region.
  • Be aware of the balance of emphasis necessary between client, employee and company; thus allowing balanced decisions as well as personal availability to intervene and participate as beneficial in client and/or employee issues.
  • Keep pulse on overall operations and mood of FirstService Residential and FirstService Residential clients.
  • Manage other duties as assigned

  • Practice and adhere to FirstService Residential Global Service Standards.
  • Conduct business at all times with the highest standards of personal, professional and ethical conduct.
  • Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
  • May participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing the work.
  • Follow all policies and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by Management.
  • Perform any range of special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Review and approve payroll for area of responsibility and timely submit topayroll department for processing.
  • Recognize strengths and weaknesses of key staff members and adjust job descriptions, positions, and training accordingly in order to maximize the return on human potential to benefit both employee retention as well as company performance.

  • Must be mobile enough to move around both the office in order to make copies, send mail and faxes and to walk around the property. This could include lengthy walks on uneven areas.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating withguests, supervisors, and other associates.
