Overview

As the Vice President of Communications you will extend the legacy of space explorers by chronicling our mission of enabling a reality with millions of people living and working in space. In this senior leadership role you will own the development and execution of corporate messaging, public relations, internal communications, social mediacampaigns, story-telling, brand positioning, launch webcasting, and announcement events. As the leader of a dynamic group, you will provide communications services supporting Blue Origin’s core business units and functions. As a hands on manager you will relish developing and promoting our compelling story. With an eye to the stars you will craft Blue’s message of reusable launch systems, astronaut & payload launch services, engine development, and advanced concepts for space exploration to multiple audiences in a variety of mediums. You will weave a narrative to move people and ultimately help them be inspired by Blue Origin’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Create, plan and execute media events and campaigns
  • Develop content for archival, documentary and story-telling purposes
  • Produce innovative positioning of Blue Origin to multiple audiences
  • Represent Blue at public events, manage speaking engagements, and liaise with the media
  • Work with other communications offices to coordinate and collaborate on messaging
  • Manage Blue Origin’s communications relations with suppliers
  • Produce and execute multi-channel plans for launch campaigns and major pursuits
  • Develop media calendars (editorial, press conferences, events etc.) and media lists
  • Execute communications programs in support of Congressional events and conferences
  • Manage a growing team of communications professionals
  • Pitch stories to the trade and general press and ensure media coverage is accurate
  • Write/edit talking points, executive speeches, FAQs, presentations and other content
  • Prepare executives for speaking engagements
  • Contribute ideas to our media strategy across all business lines
  • Work with operations teams in Kent, West Texas, Cape Canaveral, and Washington, D.C.

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. degree in communications, marketing, business, public relations or equivalent
  • Proven experience in public relations, ideally in aerospace, technology or a related industry
  • Excellent communications skills, including creative writing and verbal
  • Ability to dive deep, working both independently and as part of a team
  • Skilled at planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing simultaneous projects
  • High judgment, energy, and creativity
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • A self-starter with passion for space
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
