Job Description

Dairy Farmers of America is the largest milk marketingcooperative in theUnited States and the fourth largest dairy production company in the world, and growing. While the core of our business is to collect and market milk from US dairy farmers every day, our commercial investments continue to grow through providing milk for and manufacturing many of the dairy brands you see on your supermarket shelves. To better support this growth, we are looking to hire an experienced and talented individual to work with our business leaders in further building out the growth strategy for our commercial businesses.


The VP, Commercial Strategy will work to manage strategic planning across all commercial businesses and functions. This position requires a seasoned business executive who can integrate all aspects of commercialization and coordinate with cross-functional leadership and stakeholders to ensure optimal revenue and profits for the Commercial division. This is a new position for DFA and it is anticipated that the job will evolve over time.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as part of the leadership team for DFA's commercial businesses responsible for commercial strategies that support the overall strategic plan and key priorities of the division
  • Provide strategic counsel and leadership to influence and impact strategy and advise the EVP and Sr. Management team on issues and opportunities
  • Inspire and partner with a team of professionals, including agencies and key division functions including operations, marketing, business development, research and development, consumer insights, etc. Communicate commercialization and business strategy throughout theorganization to effectively align efforts
  • Serve as the Commercial division lead for M&A evaluation and implementation
  • Provide business support on due diligence and integration processes ofM&A
  • Work with external parties to engage on potential acquisition targets
  • Provide and evaluate ongoing business analytics for new business development and margin enhancement
  • Develop business case for new products/technology in the Commercial division
  • Provide necessary information and lead internal business evaluation in order to achieve the necessary project decisions to drive projects forward
  • Identify and seek resolution to all commercialization issues and resource constraints
  • Implement best practices, tools, processes, and project managementdecision-making responsibilities
  • Play an integral role in DFA's innovation activities
  • Represent DFA's commercial businesses at member and industry meetings



  • Bachelor's degree (required) or Master's degree (preferredin related field
  • 10-15 years of progressive business management experience. At least 3 years of experience in a strategic planning management role in a corporate environment
  • Food/beverage exeperience, required.  Diary experience, preferred
  • Co-op experience is beneficial
  • M&A experience, required.
