Vice President Chief Compliance OfficerSummary The Chief Compliance Officer will lead, implement, improve, and administer Alliance Data’s compliance program.  The individual filling this role will ensure that Alliance Data Card Services has the appropriate framework, governance, execution, monitoring and reporting of its compliance program.  This position reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction to the Card Services management team on compliance management strategy and issues
  • Lead, train and manage a team of compliance professionals
  • Responsible for preparing and presenting clear and concise compliance reporting to the Chief  Risk Officer and senior leadership team 
  • Interact with the regulators on compliance issues during regular meetings and examinations
  • Partner with Comenity Bank and Comenity Capital Bank’s Chief Compliance Officers to develop and promote the compliance management strategy, and initiatives for training, awareness, and conformance with regulations
  • Proactively review and assess compliance issues associated with new and existing products, capabilities, and opportunities from compliance risk perspective
  • Be a great partner, collaborating in a productive, professional way with the compliance management teams and the business
  • Serve on enterprise and operational level project teams
  • Coordinate efforts related to various audits, reviews, and examinations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
  • Research and interpret emerging regulatory items
  • Chair Card Services Compliance Management Committee


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field; advance degree and/or compliance and risk management certifications preferred
  • 15+ years’ experience working in a compliance management capacity in banking or financial services field; credit card experience strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of people management experience 
  • Experience interacting regularly with senior level regulators
  • Excellent communication skills and extensive experience developing and presenting clear and concise Board or Executive level presentations
  • Strong knowledge of consumer credit and privacy regulations and credit operations related to financial services industry
  • Broad expertise including areas such as operational risk, credit risk, market and liquidity risk, financial compliance and model risk
  • Experience interacting with individuals at many levels of an organization and working effectively with senior management 

Additional Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in compliance concepts and practices for the financial services industry 
  • Proven ability to understand, evaluate and resolve problems
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies including the FDIC, CFPB and others
  • Ability to research and understand complex regulatory issues and laws, demonstrate the related risks brought to our organization, and collaboratively work to provide appropriate risk handling activities
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills in order to gain trust, achieve business objectives, and work directly with a broad group of leaders throughout the company
  • Ability to function in deadline intensive environment, managing multiple responsibilities while effectively focusing on priority issues
  • Superb attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Self-starter able to work independently
  • Excellent presentation and project management skills
