The Vice President, Agile Delivery is accountable to advance and maintain the delivery framework for Kaplan IT programs, products, and projects, including approach, organization, methodology, and best practices. This includes execution on all delivery capabilities with the ability to teach and train others on the critical aspects of rapid delivery of value to our customers.

The Agile Delivery leader provides vision, leadership, and innovation to product teams responsible for the delivery of features that are often complex, cross-organizational initiatives in support of corporate strategic objectives. This requires an ability to direct and develop teams that deliver timely and accurate results, robust insights, clear processes, communications, and system thinking. This role also must foster an environment of accountability and collaboration across all facets of projects, programs, and products to deliver consistently against the agreed project objectives.

The leader empowers his/her team to maximize operational efficiencies and drive excellence in delivery execution that is clearly measurable. This will ultimately result in products and features delivered on time, on budget, and meeting the customer expectations. The role manages the communication flow to and from relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment. This position requires strong working relationships with business partners, vendors, technology, and delivery staff to ensure alignment of project objectives/deliverables.

As a key member of the technology leadership team, this person is involved in defining the future road map of the Agile Delivery organization by continually evaluating and shaping the processes that manage the delivery life-cycle from concept to completion.

The Vice President, Agile Delivery is also responsible for instilling a culture of innovation, accountability, and efficiency into the technology organization to ensure the continuing adoption of best practices.

The Agile Delivery leader is an expert in modern Lean and Agile project management methodologies, have extensive delivery experience, strong communication, leadership, and organizational development skills, and must be able to work with multiple project teams simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Mobile, Web, and IT Project, Program and Product management: Lead the coordination of teams across IT to deliver value, from initiation to launch. Establish and drive standards, methodology, guidelines, and portfolio management tools across Kaplan IT.

Digital Product Prioritization and Portfolio management: Responsible to maximize the value of IT investments while minimizing the risk, improve communication and alignment between IT and business leaders, encourage leaders to think "team", not "me" and to take responsibility for projects, allow planners to schedule resources more efficiently and reduce the number of redundant projects and make it easier to kill projects where necessary.

Lean-Agile Program and Project methodology and governance: Oversee the project portfolio and ensure that effective governance is applied across the portfolio through the introduction of lean flow methodologies. Provide the financial governance for projects including provisioning oversight, rate negotiation, invoice reconciliations, ongoing budgeting, and forecasting. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure consistency and leverage best practices.

IT Product Strategy: Collaborate with the IT Product leadership teams in the development of the overall IT strategy and lead the transition from strategy to execution. Ensure that projects are aligned with corporate objectives.

Key Stakeholder Relationship Management: Engage effectively with the IT and business leadership team. Develop collaborative, solution-oriented relationships that help drive the objective to deliver projects on time, on budget and on value.

Project Benefit Realization: Establish a framework for benefit realization associated with IT and Digital projects and programs. Develop KPIs to measure both qualitative and quantitative benefits with the key objective to deliver sustainable results.      

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree with a focus in IT, Project Management, or Computer Sciences
  • 10 Years of industry-related experience
  • Deep and broad based experience in managing and leading an IT and/or Digital Project Managers and Centers of Excellence
  • Experience overseeing large programs both traditional 'waterfall' and large-scale Agile programs
  • Experience across the full range of project and portfolio management
  • Significant experience in project management and management of large scale project agenda
  • Proven experience of designing, developing, and delivering cost-effective and qualitative project execution utilizing both in-house and contracted resources
  • Strong understanding of industry-standard project management methodologies and tools, including large-scale Agile methods (SAFe, LeSS, DAD, etc.)     
  • Hands-on approach and detail orientation in leading technology transformation programs
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in establishing and tracking measurable KPIs for both IT and Digital programs 
  • Strategy and execution skills at the enterprise level, along with exceptional influencing skills
  • Strong leadership skills to create, manage and develop a team
