Functions/Duties of PositionThis position will serve as Vice Chair of Anatomic Pathology, which oversees the clinical sections of Neuropathology, Hematopathology, Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology and Autopsy. We are seeking a recognized diagnostic expert in the field of Anatomic Pathology who has a strong interest in shaping the operations of the Division of Anatomic Pathology and assisting the Chair in mentoring of Anatomic Pathology faculty. The Department is rapidly growing and the optimal candidate will be interested in participating in new and innovative strategies to enhance workflow, new technology development, pilot initiative support, and work-life integration projects.

Clinical responsibilities include diagnostic sign out, including frozen section coverage and on call coverage as equitable with other Anatomic Pathology faculty. The candidate will be willing to embrace teaching of medical students, as well as the training of medical student fellows, residents, and clinical fellows in Pathology. Research is encouraged, including both self-initiated and collaborative projects within OHSU.

Administrative responsibilities include oversight of the Anatomic Pathology laboratory operations and collaborative program building together with section heads, chair and hospital administration. The Vice Chair provides oversight of quality initiatives in Anatomic Pathology and leads the enhancement of Anatomic Pathology services throughout the OHSU healthcare system. In addition, the Vice Chair of Anatomic Pathology will assist the Chair in mentorship of faculty in the division. Responsibilities include service on the Pathology Executive Committee; participation in committees and councils of OHSU; outreach and public service programs and professional societies with the knowledge and consent of the Chair.

Job RequirementsRequired Qualifications:

  • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology
  • Meets the qualifications for associate or full professor
  • Interest in providing the highest quality medical care and medical education, and actively participating in clinical scholar-type research resulting in publication
  • A recognized diagnostic expert in Anatomic Pathology and demonstrate interest in enhancing Anatomic Pathology services and test offerings, a willingness to develop and utilize digital pathology and telepathology for diagnostic clinical services, exceptional communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to be a change leader
