Veterinary Software & Services Technical Sales Engineer
Technical Sales Engineer will sell computer hardware, products, and services to veterinary practices. Extensive knowledge of our products, parts, and functions must be understood and how these products work together. The Technical Sales Engineer represents how the technical aspects of a products solves customer problems. The Technical Sales Engineer will use their technical skills to explain the benefits of our products and services to potential clients and to value position our products. The Technical Sales Engineer will also work with R&D on new product releases, giving feedback from clients on needed products, and training the sales staff on new products. They will also take on other tasks related to sales and marketing.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares cost estimates by studying blueprints, plans, and related customer documents; consulting with engineers, architects, and other professional and technical personnel.
Performs consultative network designs for single and multi-location hospitals.
Gains customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operation improvements.
Documents, tracks, and test results for Cameleon. Enters problems and issues into system and participates in resolution.
Prepare reports for management and staff. May present reports to management and staff.
Conduct training needs assessments against current and future trainings to deliver optimal results.
Cover territories when other sales representatives are out of the office.
Ensures ongoing customer satisfaction and continuing strong customer relationships.
Take escalated calls from clients and find a solution to problems they are having.
Work as the liaison for the sales team to other teams at IDEXX.
Look for areas of improvement and implement process changes to support the improvements.
Join technical calls so the sales teams can understand and respond to the technical language being spoken.
Create training documentation while train the team on all hardware to better value position our products to our clients.
Work as the contact for our internal and external sales teams as their technical resource.
Work with internal and external sales teams and clients in determining the client’s needs and expectations are understood and the proper solution is being provided.
Provides network and hardware configurations for Veterinary hospitals.
Create relationships with clients through knowledgeable interactions, business discussions, and educational interactions.
Confer with clients and engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements.
Recommend improved products that can show workflow changes which can lower cost or increase production.
Plan and modify products to meet customer needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in Computer-related field preferred.
5+ years of advanced experience with networks, servers, operating systems, backups, printers, and/or electronics repair.
Acted as subject matter expert to internal departments and/or technical resource for sales representatives during contract negotiations.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
High quality customer facing inter-personal skills, with experienceworking with clients and maintaining good customer relationships.
Communication skills, both verbal and written, including ability to communicate complex technical issues to technical and non-technical users in a professional, positive, friendly and understandable manner.
Ability to address and diffuse difficult customer situations.
Experience installing and troubleshooting systems, upgrades, modules and peripheral equipment.
Computer proficiency: advanced Word/Excel/PowerPoint skills
The knowledge to speak in detail about network, server, and workstation configurations along with IDEXX value added services.
