 This position is responsible for managing the Utility Fleet drivers and supporting Driver Development Team. Primarily this position will day to day operation of the Utility Fleet ensuring the teams overall success. In addition, the Utility Driver Manager will assist in proactively developing and implementing processes and tools to enhance the development of our driving workforce, as well as coaching and training. 
Primary Requirements:

  • Plan and direct the activities of the Utility Fleet in support of company operations.
  • Perform fleet support activities such as payroll, compliance, safety, and travel coordination.
  • Build, deliver, execute, and monitor a comprehensive on-going driver.


Essential Job Functions: 

  • Plan and direct the activities of the Utility Fleet in support of company operations. 
  • Perform fleet support activities such as payroll, compliance, safety, and travel coordination. 
  • Well versed in company ELD systems (Peoplenet and Qualcomm)
  • Build, deliver, execute, and monitor a comprehensive on-going driver training program, under the direction of the Director of Driver Training and Development. 
  • Support ongoing safety initiatives and programs. For example, LDT, PACE Behavioral Driving and Worklete. 
  • Assist in the execution of the Driver Training (Onboarding) program, including participation in the Trainer Selection process.
  • Execute regularly scheduled Train the Trainer Sessions, on a regional basis. 
  • Develop and maintain innovative and professional presentation materials to effectively train trainers/leaders.
  • Support Startup/ New business activities as required.
  • Assist in assignment, tracking, and completion of monthly assigned training. 
  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time. 
  • Required travel on short notice 50% to 75% - depending on company needs.


 

Qualifications

 Education Required:
Bachelor's degree is preferred in business, logistics, or supply chain management or any combination, and experience, which would provide equivalent background.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of training leadership experience within transportation industry. 
  • Proven track record of executing and maintaining an effective driver training program. 
  • Strong knowledge of FMSCR/ DOT regulations.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of transportation industry, experience with intermodal operations preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods while working in a team environment. 
  • Proven track record of leadership experience within transportation industry.
  • Proven track record of executing and maintaining an effective driver training program.
