Position Summary

Epic is seeking a systems administrator to help install, configure, and support our internal development, quality assurance, and test systems. You’ll take ownership of fulfilling internal needs, from performing simple routine maintenance to architecting complex projects. You’ll work in a challenging large-scale enterprise environment, supporting Epic in its mission of improving healthcare delivery for more than half of all Americans, and increasingly, patients around the world.

You'll evaluate and deploy new versions of operating systems, provisioning systems, and centralized management tools, develop non-traditional solutions to meet development and testing needs, create utility and automation scripts, work with the latest models of vendor-supplied hardware for large system scalability testing, create/maintain/support Epic's internal and internet-facing systems, and improve monitoring of Epic's internal server environments.


  • Bachelor's degree or greater in a technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of two years' experience administering systems in a large-scale setting (preferred).
  • Systems management and analysis experience with one or more of the following operating systems: AIX, HP-UX, Solaris 10 or 11, Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Comfortable administering virtualized environments with VMware vSphere VMs, AIX PowerVM LPARs, containers, or similar.
  • Comfortable with formal change management and software version control procedures.
  • Experience with the following is a plus: Backup/Restore, Crash Recovery, DevOps, systems automation, Linux container technologies, managing operating systems supporting a database (e.g. Informix, MySQL, Oracle, Sybase, Teradata).
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Madison, WI area (reimbursed).
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
