Job Description

We are seeking an academic anesthesiology-trained physician (board certified preferred, board eligible acceptable) who can provide clinical and administrative services for chronic pain patients in both ambulatory and inpatient clinical settings.

We are seeking an academic anesthesiology-trained physician (board certified preferred, board eligible acceptable) who can provide clinical and administrative services for chronic pain patients in both ambulatory and inpatient clinical settings. Perioperative medicine fellowship training is highly desirable. A strong interest in perioperative medicine and desire to build a perioperative pain clinic and inpatient consultation service as part of an interdisciplinary clinical practice is of high priority for this position. Prior leadership experience in leading and collaborating with interprofessional teams and across clinical disciplines is required. The position will entail developing care pathways and deploying institutional resources to optimize chronic pain patients for surgeries ensuring positive outcomes in the immediate and sub-acute postoperative period. The position will require the supervision of advanced practice providers as well as graduate medical education trainees. The position will also require clinical and didactic teaching of rotating fellows, residents, interns, and medical and other health professions students. The perioperative pain physician role is initially allocated as a 0.5 cFTE. The remaining 0.5 cFTE can be either an anesthesiology or chronic pain medicine practice.

MUSC Minimum Requirements: MD or DO Anesthesiologist eligible for licensure in South Carolina and Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology

Additional New Requirements: Ability to maintain a valid drivers license. Computer literacy. Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
