This position is accountable for effective administration to assure the efficient allocation and utilization of available resources in the Daly Operating Room surgical suites. This position is accountable for the provision of effective leadership and assuring that all corporate policies, programs, and procedures are efficiently carried out throughout the assigned areas of responsibility.
Incumbent is expected to adhere to system and department compliance policies and any applicable laws and regulations. The manager assumes accountability and responsibility for translating the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and the nursing service into effective action. Incumbent demonstrates BHS operating principles and behaviors. Responsibility is centralized within thirteen major areas: maximization of scheduling, staffing effectiveness, program development, clinical practice, leadership, collaboration, and professional development, management of the environment, strategic planning, financial management, human resource management, education and community outreach. The manager reports to the Director of Surgical Services.
BSN, BS, or BA Required. MSN preferred.
Must possess current MA RN Licensure. AORN/CNOR/CCRN Certification Preferred.
Must have five years of clinical and management experience in operating room setting. Experience in an academic healthcare setting designated Level 1 Trauma center preferred.
Responsible for maximizing scheduling capacity to build volume.
Must have proven ability to work effectively with multiple departments to ensure patient flow is seamless.
Responsible for the development of annual capital and operating budget in collaboration with physicians, staff and leadership.
Responsbile for continuous process improvement in all aspects of the operation.
The Daly Operating Room is comprised of 18 operating rooms that support multiple specialty service lines; Level 1 Trauma Service, Pediatrics, Neurosurgery, Bariatric Surgery, General GYN Surgery, Total Joint, Orthopedic Trauma, Transplant, Thoracic, Plastic, Robotics and Urology. A nine month Orientation for experienced RNs new to the OR is offered. Training is provided in all specialties using a course curriculum from the AORN Perioperative 101 course.
