Accountable for the Quality Assurance results in the respective region; technical underwriting, policies & procedures, and compliance. Evaluates complex and technically involved underwriting issues and provides advanced technical underwritingsupport. Acts as subject matter expert in areas including but not limited to eligibility, pricing, and regulatory issues, workflows, and automated systems. Serves as mentor to region and provides training as needed. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Coordinates to assure that QA is completed in the regions, Conducts specific file QA’s, Responsible to complete roll up of region QA results on a quarterly basis identifying trends by lob, SBU and individual; Develops action plans for issues identified in Region Audits and completion of such.
Focal point for improving all account issues identified by reinsurer audits, SBU new business, and quarterly audits.
Responsible on a quarterly rotation , and/or as requested, to roll up QA results across all regions, SBU, and provides analysis.
Examines legal and regulatory information and decisions to keep underwriting personnel and management informed of any underwriting developments. Ensures Insurance Department compliance and acts as liaison with corporate compliance.
Acts as liaison between underwriting management, SBU, BSU & Compliance to resolve system problems, form issues, rating issues, and work-flow changes/enhancements. May represent regional underwriting on committees.
Audits underwriting policies or procedures to ensure compliance with company guidelines.
Answers claim inquiries. May testify in court and/or participate in the taking of depositions as needed on claims or coverage issues.
Represents company in a highly professional manner and provides knowledgeable and exemplary service to the company in an underwriting capacity.
Understanding of state and regulatory requirements in the insurance industry.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
College degree in risk management, business, finance, or a related field preferred
Strong multi-line underwriting technical skills
10+ years of recent insurer experience.
