The Underwriting Manager is responsible for all credit aspects of the Wholesale Region to which they are assigned. In addition to working with the Director of Underwriting they will also be partnering with the Regional Operations Managers within their region to support the credit escalations and interpretations for their assigned region. Other duties and responsibilities are listed below.
Maintains a working knowledge of new government regulations and real estate laws, in addition to all company products, systems, operational procedures and policies. Stays up-to-date with any policy changes within the company.
Serve as a Direct Escalation point for Wholesale Ops, Sales and Underwriting
Ensures all loans are of marketable quality.
Responsible for maintaining Underwriting Purchase Deficiencies within company set standards, and notify the Director of Underwriting upon discovery of deficiency or unsalable loan.
Responds to post closing purchase deficiencies within company set standards.
Ensures Department communicates all underwriting decisions to Broker verbally and in writing, and copies loan disposition to AE.
Ensures Wholesale Underwriting Department performs to company set standard productivity and customer service levels.
Assists with department underwriting and conditions to maintain company set turnaround times.
Conducts new and ongoing training for department underwriters, and leads staff meetings to communicate industry and company changes in order to maintain team unity and comprehension.
Ability to work in a matrix hierarchy between Ops and Credit.
Performs second Underwriter reviews as part of the Credit Authority Process.
Performs second reviews for government loans recommended for denial as part of the regulatory process.
Escalates to Director of Underwriting when Loan Committee meetings are needed.
Coordinates with the Regional Operations Managers and Underwriting Department.
Adheres to all applicable compliance regulations.
Works in conjunction with Director of Underwriting to ensure proper knowledge of all relative compliance topics, monitor activities and report issues.
Follow directions from Director of Underwriting and the Director of National Wholesale Operations for resolution of issues.
Demonstrates a commitment to fair lending.
10 Years in credit/management roles.
College Degree Preferred.
VA/LAPP & FHA DE preferred.
Experience Managing Underwriting Groups/Teams.
Demonstrated ability to interpret guidelines and make decisions based on these interpretations.
