Position Summary: This position requires an ambitious leader who is an experienced change agent with a track record for achieving results and making things happen. We are looking for someone who is ready to take that next step in our trona mine to lead and develop a work team of about 60 employees. Planning the work requires a strong head in the game while improving the training culture and a higher level of safety actions and processes. The ability to bring new ideas and direction based on previous experience in a similar environment is required.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Department safety action plan and results
  • MSHA rules and regulations
  • Proper training and development of employees
  • Long and short term planning
  • Department budget, includes capital spending and forecast
  • Communication with other business areas
  • Resource coordinator for production group (internal and external)
  • KPI data and management control and reporting system
  • Ore quality and production volumes and mining quality control (dimension, horizon and ground)
  • Link to MSHA and other regulatory agencies -Local Level

Activities:

  • Provide direction to salary and hourly personnel
  • Coach direct reports as required
  • Manage performance management and compensation systems
  • Monitor the training of area employees
  • Participate in site-wide networks
  • Facilitate problems solving and improvements
  • Prioritize work and projects
  • Resolve conflicts including employee grievance's and safety issues
  • Oversee and champion department usage of Computer-based Maintenance Management System (CMMS, i.e., SAP)
  • Maintain knowledge of particular disciplines...maintenance/services/production
  • Provide input to determine impact on surface operations
  • Conduct a loss prevention program
  • Facilitate continuous improvement
  • Conduct inspections of all pertinent areas
  • Invoice authorization
  • Support Safety One Plan
  • Support Responsible Care Program

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in Engineering or related field with 5 years operational experience OR High School diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) with 8 years of experience in mine operations
  • 10 years of relevant functional management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and "Drive for Results" skills
  • Strong change management/agent skills and experience with positive results
  • Must possess or able to obtain Wyoming Foreman license within one year
