The Global Supply Chain leader (VP - Global Supply Chain) for United Healthcare Global (UHCG) is responsible for providing overall leadership, establishing and maintaining business and strategy roadmaps, and representing all end to end Supply Chain functions for the UHCG businesses. They will be responsible for building a world-class global Supply Chain and medical delivery procurement function in partnership with UHG enterprise and in-country local supply chain operations and leadership teams.   Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong strategic and tactical business leadership across all functions encompassing Global Supply Chain, inclusive of business planning, capital planning & management, strategy development, demand planning, category management, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, value analysis, performance management & compliance, purchasing operations, materials management, warehouse & inventory management, culture and change management
  • Execute on structural build-out of a Global Supply Chain function that harnesses the global purchasing power of the UHG enterprise while maintaining appropriate levels of in-country execution (local purchasing, planning, and operations)
  • Continually evaluate and recommend Supply Chain opportunities to UHCG and in-country leadership that have the capacity to return incremental value to the business and integrate Supply Chain planning into broader business planning activities.  She/he will do this by: Delivering data-driven insights to support actionable strategic direction, corporate prioritization, and execution and analyzing industry trends, customer needs, competitive threats, expansion opportunities, and internal performance related to Supply Chain functions
  • Execute these responsibilities through a combination of home and in-country extended assignments, while utilizing current and emerging business models, with an entrepreneurial mindset and creative business approach

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or related field
  • 15 + years progressive experience in building and managing global supply chain operations at scale, ideally inclusive of experience in Latin America.  Including defining business framework, building and establishing standardized business processes & operations, and continuous improvement
  • 2 plus years of experience in Latin America region, working within supply chain arena
  • 4 plus years of Hospital Supply Chain experience
  • Ability to either be an expatriate in Brazil or Chile and/or be available for travel  75% approximately
  • Deep knowledge of supply chain functional processes, including: business planning, capital planning & management, strategy development, demand planning, category management, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, value analysis, performance management & compliance, purchasing operations, materials management, warehouse & inventory management, culture and change management
  • Strong track record of experience in negotiation of sourcing contract with large global suppliers/manufactures 
  • Strong track record of ability to lead and drive change across borders/cultures
  • Executive presence and credibility as a Supply Chain expert, with ability to influence and drive change from the C-suite to local operations (hospitals, warehouses, suppliers)
  • Travel and in-country assignment: Candidate must be open to 75%+ travel globally as well extended in-country assignments as needed to support local execution & functional build-out of operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree / MBA
  • Fluent speaker of Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Experience in leading Supply Chain operations in health care- hospital, large health systems, pharmaceutical etc.
