Job Description

As a member of this team, you will contribute to CDM Smith's success by;

-Establish design criteria, develop horizontal and vertical alignments, perform superelevation design, etc.

-Preparation of design calculations for roadway-related design tasks.

-Production level proficiency with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Plan Development Guide and Design Wiki.

-Preparation of ments including construction plans and proposal package including quantity tabulation sheets using Project Quantity Spreadsheet (PQS).

-Production level experience in 3D modeling and plan development.

-Develop traffic control plans.

-Develcument condition assessments and existing conditions.

-Implementation of corporate Quality Assurance Plan.

-Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposals (RFPs).

-Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.

-Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff.

-Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm.

-Supervise the work of junior engineers on project work..

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or nal travel may be required. The frequency of travel is n specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

-Production level proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and MDOT OpenRoads Designer (ORD) Connect Edition.

-Experienced in or have a good understanding of the Transportation Management Plan (TMP) based on the MDOT Workzone Safety and Mobility Manual.

-Experience in Hydraulic Analysis and modeling for Bridges and Culverts, and Scour Analysis.

-Experience in Drainage Study, Storm Sewer Design and Stormwater, and Best Management Practices (BMP’s).

Skills and Abilities

Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations. Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).
