Responsibilities
With a staff of over 400, FSV delivers comprehensive, cost-effective Construction and Testing - Commissioning Service solutions safely to our Electric Utility Customers while providing the best training programs and mentors in this industry and numerous opportunities for growth with excellent benefits. Due to continued growth, TRC Field Services (FSV) is seeking more Electric Utility Construction Managers to support our client in Northeast Region area.
Responsibilities:
Plan and schedule activities in preparation for mobilization of Utility transmission and/ or distribution construction contractor crews
Manage communication between all parties involved with onsite project activities. This includes interacting with utility partners, contractors, permitting authorities, and inspectors
Ensure projects are completed safely within budget, scope, and technical specification requirements
Manage delays and problems encountered on-site during the construction phase while maintaining excellent documentation to support problem resolution and minimal changes to project plan
Manage quality control and inspection of work, which may include direct inspection or oversight of technical inspectors
Document contract crew activities, prepare and present periodic oral and written update reports and verify the accuracy of contractor invoicing.
Conduct Incident Analyses and prepare/ present periodic oral and written reports as needed
Assure that assigned field personnel are properly directed, trained and evaluated within Company and Utility guidelines and procedures, and environmental and safety regulations are consistently followed
Assure that required equipment, materials and tools used by assigned personnel are available and stocked
Maintain a thorough understanding of department emergency response procedures to help arrange and provide contractor storm emergency resource support as needed
Coordinate with internal and external resources for pre-bid and pre-construction meetings as required
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years construction experience, in combination with 5 years- experience supporting construction management or working in Electric Transmission, Substation, or Generation
A minimum 2 Year Degree or demonstrated competency in one of following areas: Construction Technology, Engineering (any discipline), Project/Construction Management, construction estimating/scheduling evidenced by past work history. Preference given to candidates with experience who have working in an electric transmission or in a high voltage work environment.
Experience managing and implementing construction projects, including identifying, maintaining, and/or adjusting the cost, scope, and resources, managing vendors, and overseeing the formal planning, tracking, and reporting of project performance.
Knowledge of Utility construction and standards preferred
Strong knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, local, company Safety and Environmental rules and regulations, including OSHA 30, CPR/ First Aid, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) Certifications
Proven ability to read job cards, prints, specifications, drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, instructional information and contract documents to construct, maintain and troubleshoot transmission lines and equipment
Thorough understanding of electrical principles and the hazards associated with electrical transmission work
Knowledge of electric utility maintenance practices, safe work practices, Clearance - Control rules and Labor contracts
Field experience with switching and tagging, and ability to qualify as a higher authority/control authority
Hands-on experience with successful delivery of challenging Transmission and Distribution Construction projects
Able to travel throughout the service territory Northeast Region and willing to work extended hours when job requires and for system emergencies, including long hours in inclement weather
Current, valid US Driver License in good standing
US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status
Ability and willingness to work overtime (nights and weekends) as needed
Demonstrate ability to view tasks logically, break them down to essential requirements, and generate solutions.
Ability to work independently and with minimal daily supervision.
Computer skills Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred competent Computer skills demonstrated by past use of following types of software: examples include PCM, Procore, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD MicroStation, GIS, etc.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to interface and coordinate work on a daily basis with project stakeholders
