FCA is currently seeking a Transmission Hardware Lead Engineer who reports to the chief engineer for multiple programs and provides supportive engineering tasks such as:

  • Manage CQI and GIMS cross functional task force teams, create priorities, action plans and track progress, align and update initiatives list
  • First responder to Component Quality Analysis Team New Emerging Issue alerts
  • Interact with HSE, MFG and DRE to develop the next steps plan, document the plan to the team
  • Coordinate any next steps and track progress working side by side with HSE/DRE setting up plans or tests needed
  • Update status and results into GIMS, our Quality Initiatives documents and QEC teardown results database
  • Manage prototype hardware procurements and ED&D requisitions
  • Manage BRT (Build Readiness Team) for prototype orders
  • Lead for shipping & receiving parts/transmissions for builds to/from suppliers
  • Drive designers and DREs on moving the changes through the system to meet the implementation timing milestones and participate in design reviews with the COEs (weekly meetings)
  • Ownership of mass/cost optimization (GCO/TCR)
  • Responsible for managing BOM complexity
  • Manage changes to avoid CN stacking
  • Ensure transmission BOMs have correct content across vehicle platforms
  • Lead resolution of commercial issues that are impeding release and PPAP timing (CE & Senior Manager for PRC) (Additional comments specific for a new program, first 18 months)
  • Maintain the program "Plan for every part"
  • Follow up with purchasing on prototype part timing
  • Follow up with purchasing and plant on make vs. buy strategy
  • Schedule and attend "Design reviews" ahead of ordering proto parts
  • Author minutes with action items/ follow up for each design review
  • Follow up on action item closure

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in engineering
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and industry responsibility with Transmission Design
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and responsibility with Design Release

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience with leading small teams
