Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking for an Electrical or Civil Engineer with design experience in overhead & underground distribution and sub-transmission projects (4.16kV to 44kV). Additional preference given to applicants with Transmission line design experience (up to 230kV). The qualified applicant would ideally possess strong PLS-CADD knowledge and have relevant experience working with utilities within Canada.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Working with a team of distribution & transmission line designers from preliminary design to construction.
• Coordinate with team leads, project managers, vendors, contractors, and clients.
• Delivering distribution line design projects in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, and procedures.
• Ability to take on Engineer of Record and/or Project Manager role as required.
• Coordinating with various disciplines.
• Mentor and provide technical support to team members.
• Review of designs for code compliance, best practices, design requirements and constructability.
• Resolving overall design/project execution issues, as required.
• Perform field reviews during construction.
• Maintain technical competency as codes and requirements evolve.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Reliable internet connection – ability to work from home is a requirement.
• Valid Class G' Driver's license in the Province of Ontario.
• Knowledge of PLS CADD, and PLS POLE will be preferred.
• Knowledge of SPIDAcalc considered an asset.
• Demonstrated competence in computer drafting using AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Microstation considered to be an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Consulting Engineering experience will be preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills are required. Candidate will be required to communicate within a multidisciplinary design team, whilst providing technical guidance to the transmission & distribution team.
• Comprehensive understanding and application of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and relevant industry standards including CSA C22.3 No.1 Overhead Systems

Education and Experience

• A degree in Electrical or Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognized institution
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Overhead Distribution design.
• P.Eng Registration in a Canadian province is mandatory, with the understanding that registration within Ontario and Nova Scotia will be required for this position.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
