Description

MTC is currently seeking candidates interested in a Training Manager position. This position is responsible for staff development by coordinating and instructing detention officer certification training and non-security pre-service training and annual in service training in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.


Essential Functions:

  1. Establish periodic and annual reviews of all facility training programs.
  2. Use established curriculum to provide instruction for correctional officer certification, and non-correctional pre-service training and annual in service training.
  3. Implement training policies and procedures for facility compliance.
  4. Conduct regular reviews and inspections to insure facility operations and programs meet compliance with all applicable laws and agency policy. This regular self-monitoring will be separate from any other inspections conducted by other agencies.
  5. Ensure that quarterly reports on the facility's training activities are provided to the appropriate individuals or agencies.
  6. Long periods of standing and walking are required.
  7. Regular attendance is required.
  8. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
  9. Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in education, counseling or related field, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and four (4) years' experience in adult correctional environment or related field required, one (1) of which must be in a supervisory capacity. Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements if approved by management. Experience in training, or organizational development preferred. US Citizenship required. Must pass required pre service training and become a certified trainer within 6 months of hire. Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required.
