Responsibilities

  • Oversee training curriculum development and delivery of initial training and continuing education programs, including the development of original trainings in addition to utilizing and updating existing training materials
  • Oversee training content and delivery for all access channels (telephone, Live Help/instant messaging, email, social media) and skills (cancer information/smoking cessation) within the NCI CIS
  • Deliver in-person trainings as well as support subject matter experts who present trainings; ensure trainers/subject matter experts are competent and knowledgeable about training topics and content, adult learning theory, learning styles and facilitation skills
  • Create and implement a comprehensive and continuous training evaluation program to ensure all training components and initiatives are effective and efficient in meeting defined learning targets; evaluate end user learning and training effectiveness
  • Align training initiatives with qualitative and quantitative analysis of NCI CIS data sets, as applicable
  • Accountable for all training deliverables including monthly reports and annual training plans
  • Responsible for writing training-related narrative in response to Request for Proposal solicitations (NCI CIS contract funding mechanism)
  • Demonstrate effective communication and presentation skills
  • Foster a professional and collaborative team environment throughout the NCI CIS and with various stakeholders to improve team processes

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred (Adult Education and Training, Public Health, Evaluation, Health Education or related field)
  • Three (3) years of training, quality and personal management experience required
  • Three (3) years of progressively more responsible supervisory or management experience required
  • Competence in training curriculum design and development, assessment of learning needs, implementation of a comprehensive training program that includes all aspects of training including development of professional development plans, and assessment of training results
  • Demonstrated success with performing in-depth training evaluation to assess if training programs are aligned with organizational goals and objectives
  • Proven ability to strategically align training programs based on qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • Key understanding of industry standard education trends, developments and best practices
  • Skills in preparing visually interesting and creative training materials
  • Excellent leadership and organizational management skills which include communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment that demands flexibility and innovation
  • Ability to use effective judgment and sensitivity, experience working with a broad range of people, and demonstrated success as a team player
  • Medical knowledge preferred, not required
