Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Traffic Signal/ITS Engineer for our Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC office. Primary responsibilities will be traffic signal design, closed loop signal system design and ITS design. Additional responsibilities may include performing traffic analyses, as well as assisting with preparation of signing and pavement marking plans and work zone traffic control plans. In addition to managing small to medium-sized projects, the candidate will be expected to manage independent tasks on large projects and assist withleadership of design teams. Ideal candidate will be a team player with a minimum of 5 years of traffic engineering experience on North Carolina DOT projects. Candidate will be part of a growing traffic engineering team within Dewberry's transportation team involved in a wide variety of NCDOT and municipal transportation projects.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • NC PE required or ability to obtain NC licensure based upon PE license in another state.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic engineering.
  • Experience with traffic signal design, closed-loop signal system design, and ITS design, including field investigations and equipment inventories.
  • Experience preparing traffic engineering design plans for a state DOT or municipality.Workingknowledge of NCDOT Standards, Specifications & Guidelines is desired.
  • Experience using MicroStation.
  • Experience using traffic analysis software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS and SIDRA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Task management or project management experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
