The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking a Traffic Senior Project Engineer in our Rocky Hill, CT office.
This position provides coordination of project execution and control to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through final design. Also accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to the discipline field. Coordinate efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serve as technical liaison with client on project efforts.
Provides coordination of project execution and control, in a given discipline area, to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to discipline field.
Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Responsible for gross revenue of $1-$2M.
Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Supervises and guides team to overall project objectives.
Provides senior-level technical expertise to client on project aspects within the discipline.
Assists with project management duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Perform engineering analysis and prepare engineering reports in support of traffic operations, safety, signal retiming, adaptive signal control, corridor planning, feasibility studies, traffic forecasts, and traffic impact analyses.
Perform and/or assist with signal design, adaptive signal system design, highway signing & marking, and other related traffic design work.
Participate in traffic data collection studies and conduct project-related field work.
Perform operational, safety and other design calculations.
Check reports, calculations and drawings.
Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments.
Cost control on projects and quality control within discipline
Coordination with clients
Traffic engineering software experience (Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM)
Highway Safety Manual application experience
Experience in applying HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO, FDOT PPM, FDOT MUTS
Experience on CTDOT traffic operations and safety work
Design software experience is preferred (AutoCAD, MicroStation)
Strong writing skills, including experience in writing technical reports
Proficiency in MS Office products - Word, Excel and Power Point
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
10 years relevant experience
Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT)
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and PTOE in Connecticut or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
