Job Title: Tooling Engineer - Direct Hire / Full Time / Perm

Job Location: Plymouth, MI

Job Type: Full Time / Perm / Direct Hire + Benefits

Job Description:

  • Experience Level (Years): 5years

Overview:

  • Procurement of new moulds, fixtures, and end of arm tools.
  • Manage changes and repairs to existing tooling.
  • Provide daily operational support for any tool related issues and track those repairs or modifications are being completed in a timely manner.
  • Support all trials until the tooling has been approved by Production through our PTR process.
  • This includes helping to develop a baseline and supplying all relevant information such as moulding material processing sheets, mould flow results, etc.
  • Attend all PDT meetings and manufacturing reviews specific to your assigned programs.
  • It is your responsibility to arrange for someone else to attend in your absence.
  • Maintain complete issues lists for each mould, EOAT, fixture, etc., that falls under your responsibility.
  • This list will be reviewed weekly with the Tooling Engineering Manager.
  • Injection Molded Component

Primary Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The role requires working with all disciplines within Autosystems as well as external suppliers.
  • Ability to communicate technically to various departments within the organization and to external suppliers.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Experience with Mold Flow and CAD software packages would be an asset.
  • Proficient reading design drawings and blue prints, including a basic knowledge of GD&T.
  • Aptitude for working with numbers with a high degree of accuracy
  • Able to work flexible work hours, including unscheduled overtime when necessary.
  • Ability to problem solve and facilitate solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability in dealing with mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Self-motivated - ability to initiate and follow tasks through to completion.
  • Typical amount of sitting and standing;
  • Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor;
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation; Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach;
  • Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature;
  • Ability to lift 25 kilograms periodically;
  • This position will require a certain amount of training both in-house and off-site.
  • The person who accepts the position will be expected to follow a learning curve with continuous development.

  • Interview – 80%
  • Injection Moulding Experience

Educational Qualifications

  • Grade 12diploma/equivalent educationrequired plus one of the following; 
  • three year Technologist diploma in Mechanical or ElectricalEngineering, university degree in Engineering, or equivalent work experiencerequired
  • Experience operating an injection moulding machine would be an asset.
  • Able to travel within Canada and internationally required.
