GDIT is seeking a Tier 3 Desktop Engineer to provide endpoint management support for the National Institutes of Health Center for Information Technology (NIH/CIT).  In this role, you will provide support for CIT workstation management systems (Altiris/BigFix). The environment at NIH includes Windows, UNIX, Linux, and macOS. You will be responsible for Software, Hardware and Configuration management through an array of support systems. Customer incidents are recorded within ServiceNow, our problem management system.
 

Job Functions and Duties:

  • Provide Windows and macOS application packaging and deployment, using large scale system management tools (eg SCCM, Absolute Manage)
  • Document and evaluate potential risks and issues, and workarounds or solutions.
  • Coordinate with other groups as needed to ensure timely deployments and mitigate potential issues.
  • Create workaround communications and knowledge base documents.
  • Create custom scripts for deployment, for remediation of issues, in conjunction with software deployments, or as standalone utilities.
  • Provide third tier support for Desktop Support/Service Desk on application installation/configuration/functionality issues.
  • Tiage virus alerts and determine impact.
  • Document all processes, communicate with various interest/technical level groups by email and through documentation (in the knowledgebase, through regular documentation, and via Sharepoint).
  • Document Incidents, Problems, and Change Requests.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • BS or equivalent and five years related experience or a MS and three years experience or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience with Ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow
  • Prior experience with Altiris/Symantec/BigFix/Tivoli experience
  • Experience with batch file scripting, Windows Powershell Scripting, Visual Basic scripting and Bash/Shell Scripting.
  • Extensive experience with Windows and macOS application packaging and deployment, using large scale system management tools (ie- SCCM, Absolute Manage)
  • Experience creating workaround communications and knowledge base documents.
  • Experience creating custom scripts
  • Knowledge of batch file scripting, Windows Powershell Scripting, Visual Basic scripting and Bash/Shell Scripting.


Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to triage virus alerts and determine impact
  • Ability to correctly read and interpret Windows system, application logs and third party application log files.
  • Group Policy Development and Management experience
  • Ability to correctly read and interpret Windows system, application logs and third party application log files.
  • Experience with McAfee ePO
  • Experience implementing and managing Altiris or BigFix/Tivoli
  • ITIL v3 certification
  • Technical writing- must be able to document all processes, communicate with various interest/technical level groups by email and through documentation (in the knowledgebase, through regular documentation, and via Sharepoint).
