The primary responsibility for the Test, and Automation Engineering Manager is to provide technical leadership, development and direction for North America Operations. Test support includes RTS (Ready To Serve) support of existing processes, improvement of existing processes, and obsolescence mitigation for existing processes. Automation support to include management of GSC resources to provide support for Smart Factory initiatives throughout North America.
This manager will have extensive knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes, including electronics, software, product testing, power distribution, drives and other industry automation including advanced robotics, IoT connectivity, and Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality technologies. This manager will support North American plants and report to the Director of Core Technologies.
a) Work with Purchasing in the selection of suppliers for raw materials, establishing SPC parameters and monitoring key metrics to assure internal and external processes meet and/or exceed minimum product performance specification, establishing continuous improvement programs to minimize cost and increase efficiencies. Assist in the selection and development of plant location metal finishing personnel and provide technical expertise for all paint, plating and epoxy coating processes.
b) Analyze and identify improvement opportunities to increase efficiencies, reduce scrap and maintain and/or increase product performance in accordance with Schneider Electric and professional standards and customer requirements.
c) Work with Purchasing and the plants to continuously improve processes and projects that prevents loss of Metal Finishing production due to lack of proper materials, equipment breakdowns or process adherence.
d) Provide leadership direction and guidance in establishing and implementing plans, policies and procedures for safe and efficient management of Metal Finishing operations.
e) Conduct periodic assessments of plant operations to evaluate the effectiveness of programs, recommend improvements.
f) Establish and maintain close relationship with necessary federal, state and local regulatory agencies for Metal Finishing operations.
g) Assist Purchasing as needed in technical assessment and qualification of all out sourced contractors and suppliers.
h) Manage the RTS support of test equipment throughout NA to ensure prompt response for down situations.
i) Develop, execute, and maintain obsolescence plans for Test equipment in NA to mitigate risk of extended downtime.
j) Support NA plant automation requests as needed to provide productivity support, focus in Tijuana, Mx.
k) Support NA plant Smart Factory needs, including the promotion of advanced technologies such as Advanced Robotics, IoT Connectivity, and Virtual Reality.
l) Act as Advanced Robot (COBOT/AGV) Subject Matter Expert. Engage global team of SMEs regarding recommended technologies and communicate to NAM Smart Factory Plant Leads.
m) Act as IoT/Analytic Subject Matter Expert. Engage global team of SMEs regarding recommended technologies and communicate to NAM Smart Factory Plant Leads.
n) Act as Augmented Operator Subject Matter Expert. Engage global team of SMEs regarding recommended technologies and communicate to NAM Smart Factory Plant Leads.

Requirements for the Position:
Minimum education level for position: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.
MBA or Master of Science in Engineering related fields a plus.
Six Sigma Green Belt desirable along with SPS Lean Skills or equivalent
Years of Experience: 10+ in field of Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Process, Test Equipment, Automation and Robotics.
Experience and knowledge of Schneider Electric Industrial Automation offerings a plus.
