The Role

Tesla Energy is looking for a test lead to implement and operate a test environment to ensure functionality and reliability of the server basedapplication environment. The application environment provides a backend for web UI and mobile Apps, stores user information, system configuration, collects status and logs from Energy Storage systems and provides update services. The goal is to have a fully automated validation and deployment infrastructure. You will work with internal and external groups to define the test scope for the required testing.  You will create and manage the test plan, test cases, test setups, run tests when required, analyze and present data, and work with development engineers on root cause analysis onfailures.


o    Own the automated application test environment

o    Work with the development team on design for test standards and requirements

o    Ensure that all tests complete in line with the release plan.

o    Develop validation and releaseinfrastructure with Connected Systems team

o    Define automated test environment, test setups, test cases

o    Develop and run tests when required.

o    Data analysis, report writing, and presentation.

o    Root cause analysis of failures.

o    Collaboration with development and design engineers to remedy failures.


o    Passionate about quality and software testing

o    3+ years of software test experience (preferably with server based applications)

o    Experience leading test efforts

o    Experience with UFT,  SilkTest, eggplant and/or equivalent

o    Strong engineering fundamentals and intuition, and the ability to perform root cause analysis of failures.

o    Development experience in Python and otherscripting tools

o    MS or BS in CS or EE or related engineering discipline.


o    Working understanding of how grid tied storage systems function and interact with the grid

o    Experience with renewable energy products and/or electricity distribution systems
