POSITION OVERVIEW:                                                   

 

A leading manufacturer in the Horticultural Industry is hiring a Territory Sales Manager Pacific Northwest & B.C. Canada. The company offers a highly respected global brand of product solutions to a variety of grower needs, continuous R&D of new applications, leadership stability and a highly collegial culture. This role may be located out of a virtual/home office in OR, WA or Northern CA.

The Territory Sales Manager PNW will be responsible for maintaining relationships with key strategic accounts and the respective buyers with a focus on delivering the highest possible service, sales and profitability. To maintain these key relationships, the Territory Sales Manager visits their clients on a regular basis to properly understand a client?s needs and possibilities to then properly advise the client in relation to the sale of all the companies? products. In approaching clients, the emphasis is on building lasting relationships, strategic focus/planning and be a resource and partner to the assigned account(s). The Territory Sales Manager must exhibit consultative sales and problem-solving approach to earn the mutual respect and trust of their assigned key account(s) acting as a resource and sounding board.

A collegial and autonomous culture extends throughout the entire organization as the Territory Sales Manager will work in conjunction with all other regional Territory Managers, Customer Service, and Director of Sales to determine the best manner to service, support and/or drive sales at the regional level. The Territory Sales Manager will work with and through customer service and the logistics team to ensure products are produced and distributed on time per the schedules. The professional will develop a close alliance with the Marketing and Product Manager teams to help drive continuous product development, improvement and marketing of the product lines in the best interest of the customers, company and industry.

The Territory Sales Manager will communicate effectively maintaining Key Account conversations, quotations and any situations in the Customer Relation Module (CRM), preparation of Key Account monthly market reports, the periodic input of budgets and drafting of reports, the preparation of quotations and forecasts, and, if required, the entry of sales orders. 

The Territory Sales Manager may be asked to work on broader strategic initiatives as needed and to assist others in the organization.

 

 

LOCATION:                    Pacific North West (OR, WA or Northern CA) working form a home based/virtual office setting

REPORTS TO:               The Territory Sales Manager reports directly to the Director of Sales Americas

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

?        Responsible for the day-to-day management of valued Grower, Nursery, Hydroponic, Agricultural and or Distributor Account(s);

?        Works according to the objectives and sales targets as per the sales plan/quota;

?        Research and communicate resources needed to increase sales and profit within area of responsibility;

?        Takes note of client needs, has in-depth knowledge of the key account?s strategies and plans for the future (emphasis from a 1, 3, 5years perspective) clearly understanding the sales possibilities and expected impact for the company;

?        Develops a deep understanding and product knowledge about the entire product range. Expertly provides the client with information about the entire product range acting as a resource to match products to client?s needs;

?        Develops annual business plan for Key Account(s) ? account objectives, supporting strategies and account profile models;

?        Acts as the liaison and key point of contact between customer and corporate office;

?        Acts as a liaison with product Development team to propose and discuss new product ideas as requested by the Key Account(s);

?        Closely tracks market trends and developments among the competition;

?        Develops pricing strategies, programs and quotations in collaboration with Sales Management;

?        Provides the client with information concerning payment and delivery terms;

?        Visits and participates in tradeshows and product knowledge seminars;

?        Consults on a regular basis with the Director of Sales on the state of affairs in his/her accounts;

BEST Requirements to be considered for this role:

 

  • Industry knowledge of specific characteristics and culture within the horticulture, agriculture, hydroponics, greenhouse and or nursery sector.
  • Product knowledge of substrates, hydroponics, propagation materials and or soil additives is STRONGLY PREFERRED.
  • Customer knowledge or specific experienceworking with large nursery/greenhouse grower accounts, , fruit or vegetable farms, horticultural distributors or hydroponic distributors
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) REQUIRED

 

 

BEST Qualifications for Success in this role:

 

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. Horticultural or Agricultural Degree a plus
  • A minimum of 5 -7years of experience in consultative sales or account management, preferably working from a virtual office within a global organization environment.
  • Expertise and experience in project management, strategic planning, sales development, problem solving, forecasting and expense control a plus
